Toney is unknown for me yet he had a bad end of season. For me Bellingham needs to be ready to break through the defensive lines when Kane comes deep yet to do this he needs two stopper behind him, Rice and Wharton could be the best fit unless Mainoo has the discipline. Mainoo could also be the runner. It all depend on what Southgate want. If he want to improve left sided build up, Wharton is your guy. Passer from the right, mainoo. Pressing, off ball Gallagher. Deep playmaker, trent over Walker. More directness, Gordon over foden. I don't think there is a right approach, it all depend on the opp. You can always make changes if you think the game need something different. I personally don't think tactic is the biggest problem. Imo most of the player looked nervous. Palmer came on and looked like he didn't care if he made mistake and it brought spark to the game. Edited June 29, 20242 yr by Bob stark
June 29, 20242 yr The latest info from beeb, guardian, press, etc...is Southgate is sticking (to his stubbornness). The only change starting is mainoo.
June 29, 20242 yr ‘Caution has prevailed for too long’ England play in the image of their coach. Gareth Southgate is a well-educated man, a true gentleman. Praise for that – there are sometimes too few in football. What I wonder is whether he can inspire his players, encourage them to give the very best of themselves. The fact that caution has prevailed for as long as Southgate has been national coach is also reflected in the overall poor results of the England team. How grey top players such as Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, Declan Rice and Harry Kane look as they move across the field here in Germany. It cannot be because all four happen to be out of shape at the same time, can it? Ludo Vandewalle, Het Nieuwsblad (Belgium)
June 29, 20242 yr Souness is asking whether Mainoo has positional discipline and will roam leaving Rice on his own. Thinks Wharton might be the better option.

He studied at Croydon College between 1987 and 1989, successfully completing a City & Guilds Certificate in Recreation and Leisure Industries as part of The Footballers Further Education & Vocational Training Society Youth Training Scheme." Italy terrible so far. Real lack of quality throughout the squad, particularly compared to Italy squads of the past.
June 29, 20242 yr Italy came out for this half like they just got out of bed. So slow to react, did nothing to stop that goal.

June 29, 20242 yr Switzerland looked well organised and capable of reaching the semis if anyone expects an easy game.
June 29, 20242 yr Haha, not sure I've seen a game suspended because the lightning looked a bit scary. Has a game ever been stopped due to an eclipse?
June 29, 20242 yr well we haven't seen this before. in real football, in the 1970s, you'd just have got on with it. next thing they'll have players carrying umbrellas
June 29, 20242 yr BREAKING: Germany - Denmark game has been suspended for 77 years after Halley's Comet flew overhead. Initial 'evil augury' analysis later dismissed as 'woke nonsense' by flabby-mouthed pseudo-official.
June 29, 20242 yr Hilarious equivocation in Postecoglu's defence of Havertz: "He's a great finisher... some of the time".
June 29, 20242 yr I really don't like the mono-colour kits they use in tournaments. Teams should be in their proper traditional kits
June 29, 20242 yr Really not a fan of the way handball is called now. The Danish defender had no chance to move his arm from a point blank cross. They say the arm is in an unnatural position. I’d challenge anyone to run full speed without using extended arms for balance. To me that is the very definition of a natural position. Edited June 29, 20242 yr by PhilH930

June 29, 20242 yr Sshhh you guys. I'm currently watching Coldplay at Glastonbury just to ensure that the England performance isn't the dullest thing I see on tv this week

These refs slow the replay down so much to make it look worse. They shouldn't allowed to do it. If they play it in full speed they will soon see how ridiculous their hand ball calls are.
