April 19, 20233 yr 6 hours ago, just said: It isn't but you do need a central forward who is a natural forward. You need a focal point. Brighton have Ferguson and when he went off injured on Saturday de Zerbi brought on a replacement in Welbeck. Honestly the fact that we need a CF after we had Tammy and Rom is just stupid. You can dislike both, but both are head and shoulder above any of our player as a 9. Tuchel is a brilliant tactician but his insistence to win now really hurt our team. April 19, 20233 yr Got in from work last night, knackered , so ran a bath and soaked in it whilst listening to the game on the radio. Old school, like when I was a kid, pre internet and live football on TV. And it sounded like we played well. Despite another strange line up, we had a lot of possession and caused Madrid a few issues. but listening to the game, as NO point did I ever think we were going to score. We had the usual chances and Courtois was great for them (oh to have a PROPER keeper again), but there was no real excitement as there has been in seasons past where you had a belief we could pull of anything on our day. This squad / group of players lacks so much. We don't have a Hazard, Drogba, Lampard, .....etcand having spent £600m, the state of that squad is shocking. Big job for the new man and he need as much time as possible so let's hope they pull their finger out and appoint him sooner rather than later. Edited April 19, 20233 yr by Nibs

Nibs, Agree with all of this, but the biggest missing link is a LEADER, in the Terry, Wise, Harris mould, why is it that nobody in the Club's recruitment team can see this? Until we can find that man, to lead like a General from the front, it doesn't matter which XI start the game. Before the game in the warm up, Ashley Cole was literally begging the defenders for "something", you could see the passion in the man and the pleading that was going on, but the majority, and especially our old mate Cucurella couldn't or wouldn't even look him in the eye !! Therein lies the problem, they are not bothered and do not care, just as long as the £250k per week still lands in their Bank Account.

We'll go away from this and these same players will play the most unwatchable sh*te in the next league game. Scott, its because they collectively do not really give a f*ck. The body language and obvious lack of passion is so evident. Unfortunately, we now have a bad (not technically - just in attitude) bunch, who all think the grass is greener in Spain, Italy, France etc

Some of that effort from last night and imagine some of the 0-0 draws instead of loses we could have achieved against PL opposition.

After getting a new manager, getting the captaincy appointment right is next in line for me. The armband's been passed around like a $10 hooker this season ... frequently to players with no obvious leadership skills ...

Now I have an image of Nibs in the bath after 90 minutes of soaking. In twenty years time when I'm telling my psychiatrist why the 2022/23 season haunts my dreams I'm not sure if it will be the lack of goals, Kante's injuries or Nibs's shrivelled prunes that will be the root cause of those night terrors.

The way my back and knees are these days Loz, don't think I'm too far away from having those handles fitted to bath to be able to get in and out!!
