April 18, 20233 yr We still have a certain someone coming back from Inter next season... unless he wins them the champions league.

I know this will be met with howls of derision and I don't dispute that fact that the relationship may be toxic now, but this side truly is tailor made for Lukaku. A team that is chocked full of creative midfielders that can create 57 scoring opportunities over two games, just needs a bloke that doesn't move much away from between the posts and can shoot at the goal and has so much belief in himself that he will keep plodding away at it regardless of how many times he misses cos in his head he'll always be a legend. Yeah, this side probably more than any chelsea team he has played in is perfectly set up for Lukaku.

Yeah, this side probably more than any chelsea team he has played in is perfectly set up for Lukaku. The exact same thing was said last time. With Lukaku we don't create multiple chances to waste because he just gets in everyone's way in the build up and asks for ridiculously impossible passes even prime Cesc could only make once a season.
April 18, 20233 yr Lukaku failed and got 15 goals last season. We'd all probably kill for someone to have a 15 goal season right now. Ditto for Werner's 11.

Ditto for Werner's 11. 8 of which came in either the honeymoon period or dead rubbers. Given his career long record of falling apart when the going gets tough the idea he would have been any help this season is wishful thinking at best. Edited April 18, 20233 yr by Argo

Sterling and Lukaku, two peas in a pod.
April 19, 20233 yr I am a bit apathetic about what happens. because essentially any new manager who comes in will want to assess themselves - so it makes it somewhat irrelevant how much any given player plays now. Team I would like to see: Slonina James Fofana baddy Chilly Enzo Kante Chukwu Madueke Fofana Mudryk But can't see it happening
April 19, 20233 yr Make Reece James get surgery and make sure he is ready for next season. Don`t let him play through injury any longer. Start Noni, Mudryk and DD Fofana upfront. Play Mount as an attacking midfielder and give him a chance to redeem himself (if he is fit) Give the other young players (Hall, Carney) some game time. Play Badiashile as CB in every game.

Probably wheel out Ziyech, Aubameyang and Dave instead.

If Lampard had not picked his strongest lineups in the Madrid games and instead decided to play a bunch of kids, he would have been absolutely lambasted by everyone. Now that the season is effectively over, I agree it's time to switch things around and I think that will probably happen now. But I don't think before the Champions League games was the right time.
April 19, 20233 yr There's not much to look forward to for the rest of the season. Might as well check out until a new manager is hired and we know what direction the club is going in. ATM everything just seems too nebulous to enjoy our games now
April 19, 20233 yr Nothing else to play for now so just start playing some youth players and start to get rid of the dross,
April 19, 20233 yr Total gloom and doom from the media this morning ... collectively they seem to have completely overlooked the fact that we got further in this year's Champions League competition than both Liverpool and Tottenham, neither of whom are likely to be in the CL for next season either. I must have missed the whole series of negative articles about those two clubs LOL.
April 19, 20233 yr The only thing i want to see happen straight away is the new manager coming in. The relationship between him and the players is paramount and needs to begin ASAP. We need a pre-pre-season before a pre-season with the new gaffer. The longer it takes the less time he will have before the new season begins. We have 38 league games next season to concentrate on, we can't afford for those games to be the games the new gaffer learns about the team. Get the new gaffer in yesterday !!
April 19, 20233 yr 1. Appoint the new manager ASAP 2. Work with the new manager to figure out who to offload in the summer to trim down our ridiculously bloated squad, and stop playing them 3. Identify a CF for next season. Havertz is not the answer. 4. Give game time and opportunities to players that are actually part of our long-term plans (assume we have long-term plans), even if struggling for form, such as Mudryk. Next season will be better.
