You would pay Spurs £50m to make him leave Chelsea?
October 30, 20241 yr I’d actually attribute Jackson’s improved performance on Sunday to the fact he left out the weird sh*t and focused on what he is good at, running the lanes and splitting defenders. There was no diving around, no backchatting referees, no needless fouls, no fake hard man posturing, no strange stepovers (tripovers most of the time) he just ran his lanes well. Would happily see him perform more like Sunday as he does more for the team by doing less.

This is the heat map at Newcastle, Neto was having much better success down the left than noni was on the right: I think he's so used to playing on the right side that he's still accommodating that idea he's a number 10. He has the freedom of right of centre to left of centre and everywhere in between. He got marked out at Liverpool on the right and should have tried to connect more with the left. I hope the Newcastle game was a light bulb moment for him. Step back/go deep if needs be and take control, right, left or straight down the middle. Interesting that maresca says palmer was "playing in different position" and then follows up with "different part of the pitch". So I'm guessing the above is a tactic to "double up" on a chosen side which is quite clever. Opposition managers wouldn't be able to plan who doubles up on palmer or any specific way to assign certain players to keep him quiet for example. But most importantly it's a great learning session for this amazingly talented and intelligent young kid imo. As he develops he will be able to make those decisions himself and dictate play with his teammates. I'm sure they have gone through the "tapes" afterwards to show him the difference between Liverpool and Newcastle. * around the 1:30 Mark https://www.youtube.com/live/r4cvRMREgts?si=lipS6YBosGyxFvcs Edited October 30, 20241 yr by Simplymo Link
October 30, 20241 yr I must say, it feels like the Jackson fan club are buzzing at the moment - hailing their boy as the 2nd coming - but I genuinely do challenge the narrative that he has turned a corner or is putting in game changing performances. And this isn't just me doing my best gol15 impression and arguing for the sake of it - but I genuinely don't agree. I accept he did better against the geordies and took his tap in well - long may that continue - but he wasn't this unplayable presence up top that many would have you believe. This season - he has consistently been average (at best) to utter donkey (most usual). More often than not he has been anonymous and not doing much at all. This isn't just saying this. Look at the match day threads - and they also tell a similar picture of people utterly dismayed at him. If you want more external validation - then look at the likes of sofa score (generally a reliable player / stats ranking resource) - where he has consistently been rated poorly. 6.5 vs city, 6.8 servette, 6.4 bournemouth, 6.8 brighton. In fact - only in 1 game has he been rated higher than 8 (against west ham), and only 2 others more than 7.5 (against wolves and newcastle). To reiterate - in just 3 games this season has he scored a rating of more than 7.5. If we are honest - this hardly paints the picture of a player who is genuinely turning it on and lighting the league on fire.... He is, and remains, rubbish....

I might waste some time when at work tomorrow to check - but given that we played 1 up top in all those games it is largely irrelevant. He was the striker, with no other like for like peers to compare with, so it wouldnt be comparing apples to apples. 2) I didnt say 7.5 was rubbish. But he has only scored 7.5 or above in 3 games this season. So even if 7.5 is seen as a steady, dependable benchmark (even if it is not a score that indicates lighting the world on fire) - he isn't consistently meeting it. 3) To anticipate follow ups - last years scores are also largely irrelevant. He started from such a low benchmark, so it would be some going to play any worse. A serial killer killed 10 people last year. He has only killed 7 this year....that is a 30% difference (i.e a positive reduction in killing). Still not good though is it? Bad example - but you get my drift. Just because he is better than last year, doesnt prove he is good enough. 4) Non chelsea players - again, irrelevant. Those players dont play in the same team or system as us - so its not comparing like for like. We can however use longer term trends, metrics and the good old fashioned eye test. Jackson fails on all. Edited October 30, 20241 yr by nonotnowjim

Nkunku must be terrible in training, things we don't see, he is a brilliant player, but the manager knows who to play, it's great he hasn't got any favourites and seems to play the best team.. Even the goalkeeper I suppose. He might think the goalie isn't brilliant but maybe he has no one else he has faith in.

I think give Jackson a run playing alongside the b team, and then see if he can add anything. Its not as if he has been setting the world on fire playing with the first team - so would predict that he wouldnt do much better playing alongside the reserves.

He's literally 5th in the entire league for goals and assists this season. one behind Saka and two behind Haaland and Salah... How long can you keep this up.
October 31, 20241 yr Lol, just makes me laugh. Just catching up on all the threads. First he was compared to nkunku...yesterday's game proved why Jackson starts. The less said about nkunku the better. I don't like berating any of our players regardless if I like them or not. Can't stand the disaster brothers and they definitely need to go but won't go too far on them for example, calling them useless or rubbish is as far as I go. Lol Nkunku wasn't rubbish, far from it but he's not as good as Jackson as a 9 or big fast striker up top. Hes a second striker, left wing attacker and can play as a 10. (Nkunku vs felix for backup #10 maybe) After yesterdays game, In another thread he's being compared to felix! That's fkn hilarious, lol. Nowhere near the same type of player or requiring the same set of skills. Might as well compare him to every outfield position apart from the actual #9 position. He may look crap in all of them and help any argument against him. But god forbid never compare him to another #9, he may come across as quite good for his age and experience. 🤣 🤣 🤣 Love you lot, you make me laugh!

Imagine trying to turn your nose up at Jackson after some of the sh*t we've had lead the line for us over the years.
November 1, 20241 yr I’m fairly confident that if you took a poll of Premier League CB’s and asked them who they’d rather face between Nkunku and Jackson the majority are choosing Nkunku. We don’t have a position for him at the moment because there is a more effective player in each of the positions we’ve tried him in, Christopher Nkunku’s best position is on the left of a front 3. I’d imagine Arsenal and others in the PL will be all over him if he moves on because I can’t see us playing that way anytime soon. When we play him on the left in our system it really doesn’t suit him because he’s not an out and out winger either and he’s certainly not a 9. It’s really frustrating because a blind man could see that he’s a quality player.

Means f**k all, Sofascore is a betting site, their "score" is just a made up number from someone who can't tell reality from Football Manager. In any case the average score is 6.5 so, in the worst case scenario, the "data" says that Nicholas Jackson's 7.06 Sofascore means he is significantly above average. Quote When he is pulling in 8s and 9s consistently then let's talk.... Didn't he do that on OnlyFans?

November 1, 20241 yr Scoring website ratings mean very little to me btw...its good data to have but doesn't supersede the most important bit of info, goals and assists. Also this nkunku jacko comparison is passed its time. Not once did nkunku turn his defender or even link/pass forward during the league game against Newcastle; when Jackson did 100x times better against the same opposition in the PL. Nkunku is class, pls don't get me wrong but his place is vs palmer and felix at #10. In this current system no one can replace Jackson, which tbh is not a good thing as a player needs competition to get better and that's why I think maresca mentions nkunku in the same breath as Jackson as a striker but deep down we all know he isn't really a cf. November 1, 20241 yr Only a fleeting link to this thread.....but bear with me.... The small 18mth old scamp in my profile photo is now a teenager.....how time flies. He wanted to go out wearing his new (old) Lampard kit for the first time.... Anyway, we were passing dunkin, and so we popped in to chow down on a sweet treat.... I couldnt believe my eyes that they had a doughnut named after our misfit striker. The Wacko! We had to try one..... Long story short - nobody will be surprised that it was the worst doughnut I have ever tried. Even my boy, a self proclaimed Jackson fanboy (I suspect him as posting on here under the name @abister1 or @bluetrooper) was not impressed...... It was rubbish! This is a great post with which to start the day @nonotnowjim Is this the offspring with the Auba shirt? The shirt he's wearing now was a great away kit, I liked the two-tone bars. That a chocolate donut can be rubbish is shocking, though. One should never mess with chocolate.
