Following Our Nearest And Dearest Rivals 2023/24

Like @WhiteWall mentioned on Poch's thread, I'd love to have a better insight on Edin Terzic as a manager if anyone here follows Dortmund games at all.

Can't really say I've seen too much of them, but they seem able to get some respectable results without having to resort to bus parking tactics but they're also obliterated time from time (as in losing to Leipzig 4-1 in their last league game), so is he some sort of De Zerbi?

"Long term" is an appealing and romantic concept which most clubs aim for but usually abandon when things get difficult. These days managers last about 3 years if they manage to get moderate success during that period and in exceptional cases 5+ years if they succeed most of the time without major hiccups. I think TT would be lapped up by a top team when he's available. Conte although a very good manager is such an unstable presence that the one thing he could be counted on would be to throw his toys out at the first sign of trouble.

I am not sure about this; seems to be on the same career trajectory with Mourinho & Conte- short term managers. Liverpool, pot. Utd, pot. Chelsea, Bayern, Barca, Juventus are all after new managers this summer. Barca rejected Tuchel on the grounds that he falls out with his players and things go pear shaped in his 2nd year, and rescinded Xavi’s resignation letter. I don’t think Uli Hoeness doubling down on Tuchel inability to improve young players and would rather sign new ones has helped his case.

I reckon he has one last “big” job in left; like Mourinho at Utd, and Conte at Inter, and if it goes left he would stuck on the managerial scrap heap like the aforementioned two with no top club wanting to touch him. IMO he needs a “plug and play” role where there is little competition for top 2, and he just focuses on the cup games which is his bread and butter. Coming back to the PL especially will expose him because of the high level of competition.  I am with Bob Stark;  I want to see him at Utd because I am certain it will go tits up but will be fun watching it play out like with Mourinho & Conte at Spurs.

Another solid performance so far from young Ian.

Good enough for a champions league semi-final but the logic from Poch is that he'll struggle against Burnley, Crystal Palace and Everton because they're tall and cross the ball a lot.

Under Poch even 6'4 Badiashile struggles with crosses so I'm not sure his lack of height matters.

Just boggles my mind we paid £65m and £180k pw for Cucurella when we had this lad ready and waiting.

We have had a lot of players lose their nerve at SB normally strikers rather than defenders.

Cucurella seems to have improved the last few matches not faultless by any means yet contributing.

Badiashile might need more time or a move somewhere else.

Even the great Xavi who lives and breathes Barca got fed up in a year. Even Pep who won it all with them got exhausted by the sheer weight of it all. Barca is a circus and nobody survives there so them rejecting TT is a bit rich.

As for the "one last big job", manager tenures at top clubs in general have become much shorter and clubs burn through managers much faster with Bayern themselves having chewed up 6 in the last 7 years. It's ridiculous that inspite of winning the league every season they can't seem to find the right fit. Not exactly a model of continuity or patience. It's an indication of the severe lack of managers when every top club is looking for a successful one and there aren't any to count on. Next season there will be an absolute mad rush to sign Xabi Alonso.

And on TT going to utd, I'd absolutely hate it because it instantly upgrades their chances of CL qualification and winning it.
