I was obvious to everyone Courtois was leaving, we had plenty of time to pull the trigger on Alisson.

I remembered sarri wanted to talk to courtois first

We had chech, he played on for years... should never have ditched him for the younger fuglier model and We should have burnt Courtois at the ground and let season ticket holders in to watch free... I never liked Courtouis, loath seeing him on TV, hate that he plays for Real Madrid... Sanchez could win the silverware Courtouis has won playing for Real and i cant think of anyhting nice to say about such a dislikeable pos.

I'd rather Sanchez than have that F**k back in goal. PS. Stella Courtouis is worse than his feet than Sanchez.

And yet you like Jackson? 😄

35 shots on target against combined for the two Liverpool keepers versus 54 for us. Something tells me their defence is a little better than ours...

Pretty impressive save % number for Sánchez considering the number of open goals he's allowed following tremendous f**k-ups. He's really quite good (apart from when he's not).

I was also thinking along those lines earlier today. His fk ups are normally big and annoying but because of that are we missing all his good bits!?

"...no goalkeeper making more mistakes leading to goals (3) than Sanchez.

Those mistakes came twice against his former club Brighton, while he gave away a penalty at Manchester United and, although it wasn’t registered as a mistake, the Spain international, 27, was blamed for Curtis Jones’s winner for Liverpool at Anfield.

It must be said that Chelsea’s oldest player also excelled in matches against Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest, earning his team points with some sensational saves."

Just needs a head transplant 👍

theres a stat that says Sanchez has made more mistakes that have led to goals THIS season then Kepa did in his career at Chelsea

He tried to give them one today but got lucky with the wind 😁

I’d argue Leicester only started looking threatening once Sanchez got on the ball and made that suicide pass to Caicedo.

If we don’t finish top 4 it’ll be because of him.

I forgot that - two at least then!

Yeah he's dangerous.

Absolutely correct - as you were also saying in the match thread. He single-handedly brought Leicester into the game, which makes thje rest of the defence jittery.

100%

I'll say it again with you as I said it in a few previous posts also.

He WILL be the reason why, if we don't make top 4 this season.

He is the best we have that can fit with our tactics for the time being, but he can cost us top 4 this season. He makes our defence and defenders worse.

As it stands, he's won us more points with his saves than he's lost us with his mistakes ... we will make Top 4 with Sanchez.

How can you possibly quantify that? You'd have to say definitively that the saves he's made couldn't be made by another keeper. For me, the Forest save is the only one I'd be willing to say was top top class. He was beaten far too easily against Arsenal. He regularly invites pressure, has started punching when it's easier to catch. He has directly cost us a number of goals with his off-balance passing and awful reading of the game. Even 20 years ago when keepers were just keepers, he wouldn't have been top tier

If he makes a mistake in a game we win by more goals than the mistakes, then he hasn't adversely affected the result. Similarly if he makes great saves and we win 1-0 then he's saved us two points vs if it was otherwise a draw and three vs if we'd lost.

You can't just give him zero credit because "any keeper would have saved it" ... if you go down that road then the same applies to all the goal scores and assisters. e.g. "Noni's hat trick didn't count because Neto would have scored those chances as well" etc etc

We allow a sh*t ton of shots on goal compared to the other clubs that are contending for Top 4, and we have still only conceded 14 goals (including all the mistake ones), mainly because the bloke in goal has saved most of them. People go on about all these other keepers than are "better" and they are all conceding more goals than us.

I've seen it said that Petrovic is having a good season on loan and he has a save percentage in the mid 60s ... I'll take Sanchez in the high 70s vs that all day long ...

Sanchez is really good at some things.

And then very very bad at others, which makes the defence unsettled/nervous.

Question is…. Would you rather a keeper who was 7 out of 10 across the board (catching, kicking, 1 on 1’s etc….)

or a keeper who was 9s or 10s in some areas, but 4s and 5s in others….

Save % doesn't factor in the difficulty of shots or more importantly how many of those goals came about because of keeper ineptidue.

I can give him Zero credit because in the entire season I have not seen a game saving perfromance from him. One of the reasons we are inviting so many shots is the team shape is affected by his ability to distribute the ball, noramlly ends in it coming straight back. He lacks concentration, he is riddled with mistakes and his shot stopping is so so with occational good save. You can't compare outfield players to goalkeepers the same way, striker misses a sitter he might get another chance, goalkeeper mistakes cost games in a much bigger fasion. It's why IMO its the toughest postion on the pitch. But he's average, lets not hide behind stats. If you are confident please tell me what games he's pulled out saves that you thought, you had no right saving that - Neto's goal agasint arsenal being an example, in XT terms it probably didn't move the needle, it was a low % chance and he skill converted it. You pay the money for players to do the things that set them aside... nothing Sanchez does, does that

Please tell me what he's very good at - 1-1 is awful, shot stopping is about what i'd expect for a proffesional goalkeeper, if not that he should be considering another job
