Playing devil's advocate, how do we think Cech and Courtois would have got on had they been asked to be a GK playing out from the back ?

Courtois would have been fine, he already does it at Madrid.

Probably quite sh*t, this is on the SD's and Maresca.

Cech and Courtois were genuine world class shot stoppers though, Sanchez is okay.

Yes indeed.

They don't make 'em like they used to !

I always thought Courtois was just okay at shot stopping with us. His strength was the command of the area, but if you hit the ball low and on his near post, he struggled to save it.

Yeah he had quite a few go under his legs with us. Pretty much singlehandedly won the CL with Benzema against Liverpool with his shot stopping though, certainly improved over time.

He's definitely a lot better at it now. He's in his peak years at Real, he was still a young keeper with us.

Spurs just picked one up for £12M and he looks way better.

Early days but I'm really not getting the hype with him.

He should have done A LOT better for the goals tonight, nearly let two comical ones in against Liverpool and against Tamworth a throw in totally evaded him and hit the post (I know it wouldn't have counted but still).

Vicario will win his place back pretty easily when fit.

You might be right, but when it comes to comical, Sanchez takes a lot of beating.

He has his flaws (understatement) but he doesn't let in either of those goals Kinsky did last night.

No instead he would have just passed the ball to Arsenal like he did last season!

Still #1

Quite amusing that back in July we had the pick of all three keepers who comprise the Top 3

So where do we go from here ?

I don't think Petrovic or Jorgensen are the answer, nor any of the brood of kids, and I think the ship has definitely sailed for bringing Kepa back.

So who do we go for ?

And who are we going to sell Sanchez to ?  LOL

I am baffled as to why these directors thought someone who couldn't make it at Brighton and was dropped for Jason Steele (Who? Exactly) because of his constant errors and poor distribution would be good enough to start for us.

Sick and tired of seeing this guy on the pitch, his occasional good saves do not make up for all the mistakes he makes.

It basically says we need to get rid of the Sanchez advocate Ben Roberts as well, but that's nothing new I guess !

Can someone name me an occasion this season where a mistake from Robert Sanchez was the difference in costing us points?......

I can remember the first Bournemouth game (earlier this season) where he was the (positive) difference between us winning and losing that game and I think there was another where he basically won us points.

I can't think of any this season (not last) where his mistakes actually cost us points.

Liverpool that I can think of. At fault in both goals, if I remember correctly.

I think this (and his save stats) is what keeps him at #1.

He's a  "lucky" keeper in that regard

Didn’t age well.. can’t rely on him. Simple.

One moment doesn't change that, just like his line breaking pre assist in the reverse fixture didn't suddenly make him a genius passer.

What keeps him at number 1 is somehow despite all the keepers we've signed he's the best one.

Basically we've got to hope the board keeping throwing mud at the goallie situation until something sticks or pray Penders really is a young Courtois.
