Caicedo isn’t going to play - they have only just agreed the fee. If they get it done and dusted today which is unlikely he won’t even have a chance to train with them I expect.

If you spend £110m on a player he starts regardless of training, didn't we play Enzo two days after signing him?

I don't see how anyone can leave Carney out of their preferred starting lineup. He has been superb in all of the pre-season games.

I agree, that's just how i see Poch starting the match with Gallagher having more league experience than Chuk and Santos being more defensively suited in the pivot.

mid season though so the assumption was he was match fit (also we were an absolute mess)

Caicedo hasnt really taken part in much (if any?) of Brightons pre-season, would surely be foolish to drop him straight into a PL game.

So he starts even before a medical?

Actually forget that even. He needs to be a Liverpool player by 12pm today to be able to play - new registrations need to be done by midday of the previous working day before the game itself. He ain't gonna play.

Ah memories of our greatest ever debutant. George Weah. Loan deal agreed the day before. Picked him up from Heathrow airport in the morning and he scores the winner against Tottenham in the afternoon.

Doesn't get better than that.

Gonna try and remain grounded about this.

Judging by recent history it would be very typical of us to announce and unviel him Sunday only to get spanked by Liverpool.

I hear you. Although I imagine that scenario would still be preferable to Liverpool unveiling/playing him Sunday and spanking us.

Another draw “

I’d take a draw against them tomorrow. Simply to settle the whole place down. Players, staff and supporters alike. As said, so we’re immediately not chasing other sides. Yes I know that is ‘Stating the obvious.’

Damn looks like Anthony “Fixer” Taylor will be out there to ruin the match. Expect lots of one-sided officiating. Any Chelsea goals will immediately undergo VAR review back to kickoff to look for “fouls”

I was looking forward getting back to the bridge tomorrow until I read that.

And he pretty much has carte blanche to do what ever he likes under the new gamesmanship and dissent rules. Send someone off for kicking the ball away, add on 15 minutes each half if we happen to be a goal up.

The Scousers think he's got an agenda against them too, so it might even itself out

It's bound to be all about him

Irrespective of the referee, I expect a defeat so as we’ll endure at least a week of piss taking for spending over £165m on a couple of midfielders (neither of whom will have actually played or have even signed at the time of the game).
