We are missing a clear DM. This is why we are 5 at back defending.

True. But. . .

Liverpool are also lacking a DM. In fact they are playing with 6 attacking players.

Klopp is just mad they didn't get Caicedo and probably may lose out on Lavia so he's just going to come out hell for leather and storm our defence and overrun the midfield..reckless or with the gamble. If we can weather the first 20 minutes or so and start to control the game we will be fine....when Sterling gets subbed because he's going to be running down blind alleys and hitting a brick wall every time he gets the ball.  Why the fcuk Mudryk isn't starting with his pace is head scratching.

Expect a lot of "heavy metal" hoofball from Liverpool, considering they have 0 midfield. Also to see a lot of our attacks coming down the left from Chillwell on the counter. Hopefully James can step into midfield and help out there a bit. We have looked much fitter in pre-season, so I don't expect a pasting. Liverpool have thrown out a lot of attackers, but that back 5 looks very solid on paper.

Without Maatsen and Mudryk we only have Jackson as a counter attacking threat.

Gallagher lacks the technique to affect them that way, Carney the experience, Sterling the mentality.

First line up and we will see if I am wrong but I feel Pochettino has made big errors with the formation  and leaving out Maatsen, Mudryk and Santos.

It will be interesting. Especially in the midfield.  We can and we should totally dominate the midfield.

I would have preferred Mudryk to Sterling, because of his speed on the counter.

Not that I believe it but seen suggestions Pochettino wants James to play LB to counter Salah and his ability to cut inwards and we will be in a back 4. This woild also mean Ben plays on the right wing:

Sanchez

Disasi

Silva

Colwill

James

Enzo

Gallagher

Chilwell

Carney

Sterling

Jackson

Cannot say I believe it, basically why would you pick Disasi over Gusto if you are doing this?

Playing close to the striker as well.

He should have plenty of counter attacking chances today the way pool are lining up. But safe to say my confidence in him out sprinting any pool player is zero.

Soon find out. Get the kettle on whilst you await the outcome.

Liverpool have set out expecting to let in goals, but expecting to score a hatfull in return.

I predicted 1-2 and I don't change predictions but looking at the line up may well be 2-6.

It's a disappointing line up. 1st game of the season, at home, and we have a defensive mindset. Polar opposite to Liverpool who know they aren't at their best defensively right now but are going for it.

Agreed.

I get the lineup and tactics, but its just very disappointing. Liverpool genuinely here for the taking.

I don't think so, they've still got an elite experienced team out there, compare that to ours which is almost a brand new team full of youngsters.

This is a game were we can't be too careless, we've seen what Liverpool are capable of when teams are wide open against them.

For f**k's sake everyone has swapped shirt numbers.

New rule: each individual squad number can now only be used once ever in the history of a football team. Even if it's for a 30-second Djilobodji-style cameo off the bench.
