Mudryk has to play imo given Liverpool's vulnerability in direct play. Jackson the same. Carney's ball carrying ability probably gives him the edge over Maatsen at CAM. Maatsen has a great understanding with Jackson and is intelligent enough to play at RF. Sterling for me is the odd man out for me but I can't see Pochettino dropping him at this point in time.

He prefers the left, while we usually have Sterling on the right too.

Almost played a full 90 against Dortmund tbf. I'd honestly rather expose Liverpool's fragility from the jump.

No recognised DM, an aged CB pairing and Trent moving into CM throughout the game should be a field day. I don't know if i'm too optimistic but i'm genuinely not that worried about Liverpool first game at all.

August 10, 20232 yr I can see Maatsen starting this game. Murdyk and Carney are a bit questionable defensively.

August 10, 20232 yr This is the team I think Pochettino will select. I'd prefer to see Santos in the pivot with Enzo, but think Pochettino will opt for Gallagher.

Agree, I think this is probably going to be lineup. Murdyk make sense behind Trent but we need somebody to help Chilwell Edited August 10, 20232 yr by Bob stark
August 10, 20232 yr If Chilwell or James don't cover their area it's Jota or Salah scoring, maybe people forgot just how dangerous that duo was so I wouldn't be so sure about Kepa starting, we didn't sign the other keeper to be on the bench, I believe.
August 10, 20232 yr f**k yeah, break is over we back to business! -------- Sanchez ------ James - Thiago - Colwill - Chilwell ----- Enzo --- Chalobah ---- Sterling -- Gallagher --- Mudryk ---------- Jackson --------- Not the ideal lineup to start the see, been waiting a lot to Nkunku but that's what we got for now. Buildup season, let's go CHELS!

Rather exploit Liverpool's weakness from the beginning before they sharpen up and take TAA off for Gomez to secure that right side.

August 11, 20232 yr 110m for caseido they can have him. dont need another 100m+ not living upto his rep.
August 11, 20232 yr So Liverpool's starting lineup is something like: Allison TAA VanDijk Konate Robertson McAllister Caicedo Szoboszlai Salah Diaz Jota Strong keeper, dangerous Jota and an aging Salah alongside a completely new midfield. They are still vulnerable since they still play high pressing with a higher backline, Klopp will have the same problems and in due time this lineup will burn out. Let's not give them the opportunity to catch us on the break, stop Jota's runs and foul Salah, Diaz will miss loads of shots by himself. We have something that they don't have, we are not predictable anymore. Can Van Dijk stop Jackson? If he does, our wingers will run laps on Robertson and TAA. f**k em, show no respect.

Caicedo isn’t going to play - they have only just agreed the fee. If they get it done and dusted today which is unlikely he won’t even have a chance to train with them I expect.
August 11, 20232 yr This morning's news should add a little bit of extra needle to proceedings. Expect a couple strong early challenges to get the crowd whipped into a frenzy. Could be a fun watch.

Possibly with Gallagher deeper next to Enzo and Chukwuemeka in the '10'. Personally i think Andrey has done enough in pre-season to start this one. I don't see how anyone can leave Carney out of their preferred starting lineup. He has been superb in all of the pre-season games.
