75% possession, 13 shots off target, 3.5xG

Chelsea 0 - 1 Crystal Palace

Sounds about right. Their goal will come from a panicked clearance ricocheting off Disasi's arse and into our own net and Jackson will be sent off late on for kicking the ball away.

Or, you know, the same goal we've conceded all season. 7 v 5 defending a set piece/cross with 3 open players in the far post.

Seems about right.  There will also be a lot of almost shots and indecisive opportunities*.

*What are indecisive opportunities? Haven't really decided. 🫠 it is part of the general goal mouth fumbling that we are expert at. Error, mistake, miskicked, misunderstanding, caught underfoot, slipped, overrun, underrun, lost, failed, did not see, did not anticipate, fell over, could not choose, misplaced, overlooked, passed to opposition.

Sounds like Caicedo will hopefully be back after illness. Enzo still out. Any chance Lavia will get some minutes from the bench? Nkunku should also get some minutes. I suspect more likely from the bench but would be great to see him start.

You've really got it in for Poch now huh ... pretty much on any thread you can fit it in LOL

Normal when talk the talk isn’t being backed.

Calling the accumulation of yellow cards as competitive passion vs lack of discipline was just so silly to me.

I agree. Passion is getting a yellow for an over-zealous challenge perhaps. But not for kicking the ball away or dissent, when the rules now say that should be a an automatic yellow.

Good news guys. Palace has not won in the league since November 4th. Another reason to be optimistic 🙂

In theory you would think it is a good time to play Palace, especially given our decent recent record against them. But with our awful form and current injuries/suspensions I am not sure it is a good time for us to play anybody.

Yep. It's not passion, it's petulance. They can't get their own way so they take it out on somebody else. He had a lot of this at Tottenham and it's one of the reasons why they were such massive losers.

13 players out injured/suspended. It’s not going to be pretty.

Even with those injuries we have a competitive side, on paper.

Not like he has to even play a single reserve team or under 18s player.

Though I I wonder who plays next to Gallagher if Caicedo does not make this game. Maybe Matos?

Matos may get some minutes for sure. Lesley is confirmed out, along with Enzo. Despite Lavia making the bench last game I'm guessing he isn't ready. Although if that is the case why even use up a spot on the bench?

Would Poch be forced to start Lavia if Caicedo is out?

Hmmm with Sterling and Palmer suspended, maybe we need to change our approach:

Which two Palace players can we get sent off to enable Jackson to get some goals?

Good question. we finished Sunday's game with only Conor as a recognized midfielder. But we were chasing the game at that point. Hard to imagine we would start a game that way. So I suspect it would mean players out of position. Probably Colwill back to LB, with Maatsen into mid. But honestly your guess is as good as mine.
