July 23, 20241 yr How many players will have picked up injuries before matchday 1? I am going to guess 11.

Casadei Washington Kellyman Moreira Tauriainen Richards Kepa Slonina Humphreys Vale Anjorin Matos D.Fofana Burstow Sarr ( 🙂 ) Lukaku By far the most interesting name is Washington. Washington not in the squad?? That must be some kind of mistake when some fans want him to start PL game last season. 😂😂 Joking aside, probably the only one that is surprising is Petrovic. Other than, it is as expected. Chelsea has been trying to ofload Chalobah for a while, not a surprise. Edited July 23, 20241 yr by Bob stark
July 23, 20241 yr Afie Gilchrist has received two loan proposals from Preston and Sheffield United. He’s leaving Chelsea on loan, not travelling to US pre season tour as he will decide his fav destination in the next days.

Might be true for Kellyman, but more likely a convenient face saver for Petrovic to keep his value up for a potential sale. One GK must be on the way out if we are serious about recruiting someone (please god not Jorgensen though !!!)

I hope petrovich is just there because of the rumoured injury. Not surprised about Chalobah but I still wouldn't sell him till after we have a settled injury-free back 4 for a while, and even then he bleeds blue and should be in the squad as back up, even if the other 4 are better than him (doubt all are).

July 23, 20241 yr In terms of Enzo himself, I'm not fully convinced yet but of course there is plenty of time. Personally I find the whole Pep Disciple thing a bit boring but maybe that's just me? If he can get us top 6 and win the UEFA Conference I'd say that's a good season.

July 24, 20241 yr Obviously I must have rose tinted glasses, but I like the way Maresca talks at a press conference more than Potter or Poch. He presents calmly, constantly has a sly smile and didn't make any big claims "Aims to compete for trophy and champions league but as to when" sooner would be better than later but he didn't know when.
July 24, 20241 yr For me this would be something to an ideal line-up knowing Maresca will go for a 3-2-4-1 when in possession (as per Andrey Santos' words, too). Some special mentions: - Fofana's spot in defence could be taken by one of Tosin, Disasi or Badiashile. - James can invert, too. - Nkunku could replace Jackson and Sterling start on the left wing. There is a lot Maresca can juggle with and definitely the squad is perfectly built for this 3-2-4-1, inverted full back, tactics. I truly hope he does not move Palmer on the right wing to accomodate another central midfielder and have Enzo, Caicedo and one of Lavia/KDH/Gallagher all in the line-up at the same time. I think a winger like Madueke is a must in today's game.

Can Enzo + Caicedo defend without consistent pressing from the front?
