Terrible bit of business, miss out on a proven PL quality winger for 25M but will now happily go and splash 50M on some punt and hope prospect like Gittens or even worse 75M+ on a lanky Jackson in Ekiteke.

This club is in the mud.

Exaclty, we'll spunk silly money on a sh*t version of Madueke who wasn't even 1/4 of the prospect that Sancho was at Dortmund...

sh*t outcome tbh.

I expect this is more about the wages than the fee, it seems the club wanted him but he wasnt willing to fit into the wage structure. I know everything the club does is the worst thing ever, but that seems eminently sensible planning to me.

Why are people banging on about the 25m. We had no issue paying that, the issue was the numpty thought he was worth at or around the 300k a week which he isn't. £25m and 100k a week I could accept as a bit part player but anything more than that was absolutely the right decision to send him packing back to Utd. He hasn't been amazing here and one or two decent goals won't make up for that.

We also have Kendry and Estevao coming in so I'm struggling to see any significant playing time for him (although former may go on loan to Chelsea B I hear)

Not signing Sancho isn't the problem though, it's signing sh*t players which is an entirely different problem.

Agree, Sancho probably demanded 300k wages, I'm not too upset over it.

I think he was a decent player that could've done better in a better system. But I would rather us take the chance with Sancho if it meant we didn't spunk 50 million on Gittens, which you know is very likely to happen.

I think wages are the stumbling block here, no chance he cuts his wages in half to play potentially back up here. Decent player on his day but we need better, don’t think that fella from Dortmund is that player but there isn’t a whole lot out there.

Surprised he would risk another year of instability, or worse rotting away at United unused, during a World cup year.

Guess he cares more about his wages than ambition.

With his wage demands good luck to Man Utd selling him......

.....NOT!

300k pw

He’ll definitely be at United until he’s a free agent. The best part is, United fans like that Goldbridge were saying the fee would be £10-£15m to break the obligation 😅 so much cope.

How long has he got left on his Utd contract?

I'm with you on Gittens, Sancho is not getting any better but maybe there's a chance Gittens could improve?

Only 1 more year, it would be more understandable if he still had another 2 or 3 years to go.

1 year left until he's a free agent. And he will be able to move anywhere, with a sign on, etc etc

Makes sense to me. I would have recommended he go back to united for a year. Issue is they can't loan him out. So it'll be interesting to see how he's used next year

Why we are paying £50m for Gittens when the PL proven Mbeumo is going to move to Man Utd also for £50m is a bit of an head scratcher. That is until we are reminded of our Champagne taste and Lemonade pocket status. Its all about the weekly wage structure

I would not have recommended that to him at all, he should back himself now for a chance at a World Cup spot or just to turn his career around in general so he earns more in the long run.

I'm pretty sure he can go on loan in his final year, I do vaguely remember this being an issue for another player but I think it was league specific. Could be wrong but no one has alluded to him not being able to be loaned out again and surely he wouldn't be stupid enough to put himself in that situation.

It's bloody infuriating. Although Mbeumo is right sided and Gittens left. With Sancho going back and Mudryk in limbo we have no left wingers left only Jacksons?

I'd still sell Noni to Newcastle and use the cash and Sancho money to get Mbeumo. It would be a massive upgrade.

This is an odd one. I think Sancho would prefer to stay at Chelsea. He is a Chelsea fan, gets along with his teammates and Champions League Football. The idea of waiting a year and getting him on a free, sounds dubious. We just paid 5 million quid NOT to have him. We must really be after Jamie Gittens now.

As a club, it seems we are [over] committed to signing homegrown and/or as young as possible.

Mbuemo wants £200k a week

Try Jackson at LW or give Tyrique a longer run at it ? Plus we also still have Raheem Sterling on the pay roll LOL.

And I bet Chilly would make a better fist of left winger in the PL than Gittens as well 😀
