Caoimhin Kelleher, surely an upgrade!

Featured Replies

Surely this guy is an upgrade on sanchez!

We desperately need a decent gk. He's 26 and apparently good with his feet too. Gk's also reach peak performance at an older age than outfield players. With marshmallow coming in for the dippers, I see kelleher even forcing a move if slot does what he says and keeps Allison #1.

Some tidbits from the article below:

1) Kelleher has the club record for penalty shootout saves as well - stopping six kicks in four Carabao Cup shootouts."I've made it clear in the last few years that I want to go and be a number one and play week in, week out," said Kelleher in September.

"The club's made that decision to get another goalkeeper and from the outside looking in, it looks like they've made a decision to go in a different direction."

2) He has not made any errors leading to goals.

3) When Kelleher plays, he usually plays well. His is a proactive goalkeeper, quick off his line, good with the ball at his feet and a fine shot-stopper too.

Some 32% of his touches in the Premier League have been outside the box (286/897) compared with 25% of Alisson's.

I dunno, his name is a bit tricky to spell 🤔

Would the dippers sell him to us?

Lol

That's the big question tbh. I doubt they would but...he isn't happy being second or third choice. He would have to push and maybe accept the abuse coming his way from their fans.

Also depends on the other options on the table too obv. Don't know how many clubs are in dire need of a #1 goalkeeper but we are beyond dire. Lol

*But if he does choose us he will need to really push for it from his end.

I keep thinking about how bad we need this guy instead of sanchez.

He isn't happy with his situation atm. He could actually be better than what we've seen so far if he plays every week and is our #1. His heart would be more into it.

I am reliably informed that his name is pronounced 'kell-uh-khair'. Similar to 'Docker-T'.

The time to have got him would have been before the cat was out of the bag.

Yep, he won't be cheap!

But I can't think of any club in such a desperate need of a gk atm, apart from us, that can afford to buy him.

Is he actually any good, or is this just another hyped liverpool youngster that goes on to do sod all.

He is young for a keeper but isn't exactly a 'youngster'. He is 25. 26 in fact next week. He is a very good back up and reliable when Allison is away but I wouldn't say he is a top tier keeper and remains to be seen how good he is over a whole season.

Merely being an upgrade on Sanchez is setting the bar extremely low. Yes, Kelleher is undoubtedly an upgrade but apart from his bi-yearly masterclasses against us, he would not be able to justify whatever insane price FSG would be seeking.

He'd be on his final year next summer. They also already have Allison and Mamardashvili. I think he'd be available for peanuts. My only issue is his sample size. We have no idea what kind of GK he is as a #1 for a top club.

Surprised we haven't gone and looked at bringing Bulka back. I know sexyfootball has been vocal about him. He's turned into such a confident keeper.

I remember as recently as their 4-3 game vs Fulham last season he was getting pelters and Liverpool fans thought they were screwed if Allisson was out for a while.

He's a decent keeper (better than Sanchez, low bar I know) but he's more of a starter for a Palace, Bournemouth etc in my opinion. There's a reason Liverpool have signed Mamardashvili for next season when Allison leaves instead of sticking with Kelleher

One of the rumours is slot doesn't want Allison and will keep the other 2 instead.

Then another says he wants to sell both Allison and kelleher!

Until the window actually opens I think everyone will be linked with Allison and kelleher at one point.

Romano is denying the rumors but a part of me believes there is some truth, or at least the fact we inquired. Our directors are brazen but they aren't stupid. They will 100% be looking or a new GK.

Sanchez has the confidence levels of Bakayoko so the club don't want this being made public to further deescalate his poor form.
