i would consider Chalobah over Colwill and would definitely have one of the youth strikers on the bench.

Me too, but I'm expecting Maresca to bench Trev for allowing the first Brighton FA Cup goal, plus he's already said that he has no plans to use the Academy strikers.

You would certainly have thought that one of Washington or Mheuka on the bench would be a useful option if we need a goal ...

I didn't see the press conference, but apparently there were some suggestions that Maresca might try Tyrique George as number 9?

Play a guy up front who has zero senior level goals - sounds about right LOL

Also saw someone suggest Pedro Neto as a false 9 , on the grounds that he would at least press from the front !

Well no matter what happens Maresca either has to play somebody out of position, or a youth player that has zero senior goals. He really has no decent options and he will likely be criticised regardless of which players starts as striker.

Im looking forward to tonights game and think Maresca will opt to play Nkunku as a 10 behind Palmer who is more innovative in any position. Nkunku couldnt have a better opportunity in the next 5 / 6 games. If he falls behind juniors in the selection process he only has himself to blame. Knowing the injuries he should have been like a man possessed in training this week.

Up the Chels!

I sympathise with Nkunku for being frozen out by Maresca, but my sympathy will only go so far. Yes, you've had a rough time, but here's your chance to change that now. If he doesn't want that, then he should give his wages up to somebody that does.

Can't condone Nkunku's actions despite Marseca's negligence on the topic, his lack of effort is appalling, but he has a great opportunity now to win back some support and pride. If he can't do that from now until the end of the season I'll be more than happy to see the back of him in the summer.

Maresca saying Nkunku isn’t a 9 but we don’t have a 9.  He’s the closest we have.  Surely he needs to adapt the formation to accommodate him and at least get Palmer or the wingers to push forward when he naturally falls deeper.

Just broken the news to my wife that her Valentines night will be watching the Chelsea match followed by me acting like a bear with a sore head after we put in another terrible performance.

:laugh2:

What's wrong with that 🤔

The one thing he can't do is play with the same gameplan we played last Saturday. If he does, we lose again and he would deserve all the flack that would be thrown at him.
