loz Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Who gets the plaudits after a very comfortable win
blizeH Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Some great performances in the first half, and some good stuff in the second half too... however, the person I think was most consistent throughout the entire game was Malouda. Yes, Malouda. Wanna make something of it?
Maksimov Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 It was hard to decide...Mikel was awesome, but I went for SFL.
Lofty Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I think I'll vote Malouda, apart from a very well taken goal, for looking far more likely than he has since we signed him.
PloKoon13 Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I thought Mikel was excellent today. A very mature performance from a fast-improving player. He'll fill Makelele's boots one day! Although he had a typical Malouda performance in the first half, in the second half I thought Malouda was excellent! I nearly gave him a pity vote... :)

Wanna make something of it? i will because he was utter sh*te in the first half. but was better in the second half. superb finish for the goal, but didnt really do much more. pissed me right off in tht 1st half when he gave anelka a ball as he was surrounded then stood still and didnt even attempt to give anelka an outlet. if that was me id have bollocked him till his ears bled. mikel for me was simply superb. he really is becoming an integral part of our team and dictates the tempo along with lamps and deco. Lofty Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 i will because he was utter sh*te in the first half. Ok but .. there's a first time for everything, and in the case of Malouda very possibly a last time as well, but credit where credit is due, and in the second half he was, ok outstanding is overdoing it, but he did look well up for it. Ok, I admit that Malouda Man of The Match has a certain novelty value
High Street Ken Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I'm going for Anelka, simply because his head never dropped and he ploughed a loan furrow up front, which is never easy. He really deserved his goal. Is that 3 in 5 for him now? Other than that, I thought Mikel and Riccy were both immense.
Mod Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Many good players to choose from, but it has to be Florent Malouda of course!
goose Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 The more I see of him the better I think he's getting. Going to end up a great signing for us. Bosingwa.
Scott Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I went with Frank but I can't argue with Obi getting the nod.
mad_mac Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Malouda. I voted for him just because I ahve advocated him coming good for us for a while. I hope that he continues his current form. If I was being more serious, it'd be Lampard, Mikel, or Bosingwa Scott
evissy Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Lampard, Riccy, Bosingwa and Mikel were all brilliant! Malouda was also really comfortable with the ball if only he was better passer in the crucial moments.. Mikel's performance which led to Malouda's goal was highlight of the game really. He tackled the ball Maka-style(cool), dribbled past two guys and passed to Lampard just before the third was getting it. Bosingwa has really solved our problem on the right side. He is clearly better than Paolo or Belletti on that spot. His pass to Lampard's head from a fast moving pass was just amazing. Belletti seems to be a decent sub for us. His shot is a powerful weapon, glad it led to Anelka's goal as he was working his socks off in the attack.
Tim W Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 No one, I honestly thought we played sh*t; the idea is to rise above the level of the opponents not drop to their level, which we did for most of the game. And I see Deco is already suffering from burn out after four games in the premiership. We committed 21 fouls last night of which 15 must have been down to Deco, you’d think at his age he would know how to tackle or jockey someone off the ball. Also as we were “cruising†why did BP wait so long to bring on Kalou and Di Santo should have been given a run out not Belletti. Moan over!
Nibs Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I know what you mean Tim. The opposition were poor, which again questions these Champions League group stages. After 20mins, it was clear this match was a complete waste of time. So why in the second half could we not give some youngsters a run out? Deco looked tired and disinterested second half and I'd have had him off at half time. For the record, I went for Lamps but Mikel a very close second.
Mr Chelsea Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 obi gets it for me (we call him obi because its the name of our dog) he was solid for the whole 90 minutes, his passing range is far better than maka's ever was, although he still needs to learn a lot, but he's getting there, and by playing regular he can only get better as for malouda he took his goal well and seemed to get more involved in the second half, i think he's frightened of been tackled and injured and hope he doesnt play at the weekend riccy c was outstanding as usual, and boswinga is fitting in very well he gives us so much extra in his attacking role

Moan over! you really thought we were sh*t? have you ever played football? the reason they were opor was because we starved them of any possesion and kept them moving round the pitch, constantly pulling them out of position and pushing them back due to our full backs pushing on. if you thought that was sh*t then you should just give up watching football mate, as your never gona be happy.
Tim Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 (edited) Well my vote goes for Mikel, who I thought was simply immense last night. He really has started this season in fine form, and long may it continue. Sunday will be a MUCH bigger test though as last night's opposition were pretty damn poor, they even made Malouda look good! (joke....sort of) I also agree that the one big shame from last night is that Di Santo didn't get 20 mins or so. If not then, when? Edited September 17, 2008 by Tim
Bridgeboy Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I struggle to see how we played sh9it if both the wingers scored, the central striker scored and the attacking midfielder scored and we hit the bar twice hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Nope I see a fine performance and something for the mancs to shake about. BRING IT ON ;)
ethicalstrategy Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I went for Frank, but Mikel was good and there were glimpses from Malouda which were encouraging. Deco needs a rocket up his arse. He has given the ball away carelessly at least once in every match this season. It cost us JT being sent off at the weekend and could easily have cost us a goal last night. There is no need for it - it is just laziness. Scolari needs a word before it actually really hurts us.
Tim W Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 you really thought we were sh*t? have you ever played football? the reason they were opor was because we starved them of any possesion and kept them moving round the pitch, constantly pulling them out of position and pushing them back due to our full backs pushing on. if you thought that was sh*t then you should just give up watching football mate, as your never gona be happy. Seems like you need to give the same advice to our manager and sorry I didn't know it was forbidden to have an opinion different to yours, our play was poor, against poor opposition we didn’t make them poor they were poor, against a better side we would have been caught out and probably given away a few goals. That’s my opinion if you don’t agree so be it, but don’t tell me I’ve never played football and don’t tell what to do.
ethicalstrategy Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I thought we were very lackadaisical for long periods, but I don't think it necessarily follows that we would have been like that if the opposition had offered more of a challenge. We could have raised our game if needed but instead just did enough.
