June 30, 201412 yr I bought tickets to Blink 182 at Brixton Academy on Friday. Cheeky bar stewards charged me £2.50 for choosing to print out my own e-tickets. How does that work, they literally have no expenses involved when issuing an e-ticket.

June 30, 201412 yr DAFUQ Innit blud! Face value of the ticket was about £38, then they stuck their admin/handling fees on top taking up to about £44 a ticket. Then I got that additional £2.50 for printing my own tickets... Because you know, it wasn't costing me enough already. f**kers.
June 30, 201412 yr What a joke! Anything to make a little money. Blink are good though, enjoy! Make sure you're packing heat when you go, this is Brixton we're talking about.... Edited June 30, 201412 yr by Blueblur

June 30, 201412 yr What a joke! Anything to make a little money. Blink are good though, enjoy! Make sure you're packing heat when you go, this is Brixton we're talking about.... I've only ever seen Blink once about 10 years ago at Wembley Arena, I had seated tickets and was looking sideways on to the stage for the whole thing... Not very rock and roll. Managed to get standing tickets for this though so I'm happy with that. I've been to Brixton Academy quite a few times and I've never had any trouble in the area, doesn't hurt that the venue is only a short walk from the tube station I guess. I got offered pills at The Streets gig inside the venue but that's about it.... Might have been a bit different if I was into Nas I guess.

I feel a little too old to watch them now to be honest!! They are funny though, their old stuff was good I had tickets for them a couple of years ago, they were playing two dates and they cancelled the night I had tickets for because the bassist Mark was ill. I wouldn't have minding but I lost out on about £15 cause the box offices don't refund their admin fees etc as part of cancellations so I might as well have quit £15 a burned, at least I would have had some temporary warmth to show for it.

To be fair you're right, I live quite close to Brixton and I've never had any trouble there. Still, some Kevlar might be in order, "just in case". Edited June 30, 201412 yr by Blueblur

July 3, 201412 yr Always think of Pete Townshend as my neighbour as he lived close to where I went to school. Not that I ever met him, but I was always aware that I might, so over the years, I felt like I knew him! Edited July 3, 201412 yr by Beerqueen
July 8, 201412 yr The Libertines on Saturday. I wish I could see Arcade Fire on Thursday but the old woman has said no chance. This was a day to remember for an old f**ker like me. Got there midday, after going to theb pub opposite Victoria Station for a piss and thinking a major firm were in town, is this the youth of today? We watched The Enemy but as a result missed Wolf Alice as the Baclaycard Theatre was full up by the time we got over there, not switched onto these festival things. Then onto Maximo Park who were sh*t, gave them a miss after a couple of songs to try and get to another small stage but these were also packed out and couldn't get in to or near to the front to see. I enjoyed Spiritualized from a distance and then we decided a cup of coffee would do to keep the energy up and then parked ourselves at the front to see the Pogues. By this time our son had turned up and by at the front I mean up against the rear rail of the VIP section which had a line of stewards between that rail and a line of roadside temporary barriers behind, a sort of ditch ready to be breached!. The Pogues were great with Shane MacGown literally hanging onto the mike stand to prevent himself melting into the stage, lots of old songs, shuffling off stage for another pint of some clear liquid during instrumentals. Then a long break until the Libs came on. By this time the area we were in was becoming filled by lots of pissed and coked up youngsters, probably in the pub we'd been in earlier, ready to go over the rail. A big group behind us were singing Chelsea songs which was great as there seemed to be a lot of Yorkies around and a lot of Scots too. Two songs into the set all hell broke loose, people at the front were getting crushed and the band stopped a couple of times, one of them for pyros being chucked around. The lard arsed woman next to us had to be hauled over, the pissed/coked up kids we're breaching the defences, a cheer every time one succeeded without getting chucked out and then it was our turn as it was getting bit hairy with he crushing behind. The second fence got flattened and over went my son. Some bloke behind bawled to me help her over as my missus struggled to get over the fence, you'll have to help me after, all sixteen stone of me I said to him and then I went head over first, no room to hoik a leg over. After that the show was great, loads of room in the VIP area to see the centuries greatest and favourite UK band. Not so great at the back where we had previously been, where people climbed the speaker towers, some of them naked to get a view, the security had got their act together to prevent breaching. Not quite Hillsborough but for those not used to crushing a bit scary. The VIP area was ridiculously large and asking for trouble, nothing worse than being pushed up against a fence with an open area three yards away. Biggest eye opener was being in a crowd of teens and low 20yr olds, God I'd love to be that age today. Edited July 8, 201412 yr by Peckham Blue
July 13, 201412 yr Saw Violent Soho and The Smith Street Band play a double header the other night at the Hifi Bar in Melbourne. Two of the best up and coming aussie bands around. Edited July 13, 201412 yr by skippy
July 14, 201412 yr All being well, will be going to the Ealing Blues Festival this coming Saturday (19 July). Only £5 to get in . Some good bands playing. Also lots of good food and beer.
July 17, 201412 yr I am going with the missus to see Bad Company and Lynyrd Skynyrd on Saturday, 19 July, and then we are seeing Kiss and Def Leppard on Friday, 25 July. I guess all of the old bands are doing the touring thing to make money from old farts like me and my wife.
August 5, 201411 yr Blink 182 on Friday. Against Me in November and Interpol in the New Year. Very excited for all three.
August 5, 201411 yr Blink 182 on Friday. Against Me in November and Interpol in the New Year. Very excited for all three. I'll be at Blink also! 3rd time seeing them, first time in London (saw them twice in Glasgow). Buzzing, apart from the fact I have to trek from Shoreditch to Brixton at rush hour using the Northern Line...
August 9, 201411 yr Me and my wife are off to see Stephen Malkmus (singer from Pavement). Can't wait! Edited August 9, 201411 yr by Dr Gonzo
August 11, 201411 yr Hope to see the Bad Shepherds on Thursday night. Have read good things about them. They're playing at the Great British Beer Festival. A fine combination: beer and music.
