Kalou. Ok he missed a couple of relatively easy chances, but he also created a couple of very good chances for himself, one that was cleared off the line, another that went just the wrong side of the post. And then there was the cross that set up the goal.

I went for Essien, although Kalou, Zhirkov and Mikel were also good. Good defensive performance as well.

I felt that Essien was the drive behind the team, won back the ball countless times and of course scored the goal.

Agreed. Regardless of what he is going, he always does it with 100% effort.

Had a few nice runs, set up the goal, good game rfom Kalou.

Mikel MOTM by far. Terry, Zhirkov, Malouda and Kalou all had good games as well though. Getting quite worried about our attacking threat when Drogba isn't playing his best game.

I was impressed by a few players. Zhirkovs tackling and effort in midfield, Kalou's constant threat on the Fulham defense dribbling past players as if they were statues, Ivan as solid as always, Cech did have little to do but done it well and lastly, Mikel for hitting the target TWICE!!! He's improving :JC_doubleup:

Kalou gets my vote, great assist

yep totally agree. certainly shouldve scored at least 2, but he kept going and during his time on the pitch was our most productive and dangerous player and despite the missed chances kept on going.

Kalou for me as well, obviously should have taken at least one of those chances but he was a constant threat and made the Goal, without him today Fulham would have been out of there half far more than they were.

Drogs is looking out of sorts but hopefully he is doing the right thing playing his way back in...lets not forget we had no Anelka tonight and I'm hoping the rest will do him good.

I did like the effort from Zhirkov, thought he really put himself about.

I voted for Essien. Nothing to do with the goal and entirely to do with the difference he makes in the centre of the park for us. I recognise that Kalou did so a lot of things well but a striker can't afford to miss too many chances like the ones he did tonight.

Drogs appears to still be suffering from the after effects of malaria as he seems to be playing at 70% energy (understandable).

Just back from the match. I went with Essien, although he was just as frustrating as Kalou in his own way.

A very strange match that we made unnecessarily hard work of.

A word for Drogba who ought to be laid up in bed.

Main thing was the points and we got all three.

Martin Atkinson is a prize w**ker and isn't fit to referee a sunday league game.

Im not sure if i watched the same match as other people, what were the easy chances Kalou should have buried?

1 was a half volley, a very difficult technique any player on the pitch would have struggled with

1 was from the tightest of angles which he put a yard other side of the post, not by any means a given goal. Wouldn't bet my house on Drogs or Nico scoring that with so little of the goal to aim for

1 He slid through the keepers legs and it was cleared off the line - Unlucky

I dont remember any other chances he had?

I mean, there has always been harsh criticism of Kalou over every little thing, guess i shouldn't be surprised anymore

Despite him having a great game, getting an assist, skipping past player (Which we often moan nobody in the squad has been able to do since Robben), winning free kicks and also his general tracking back and work rate. Yet and still people want to focus on the negative, yes there were a few loose passes, missed chances but the same can be said aboutt Drogba on his best day.

Maybe im wrong, maybe he missed some other chances i seem to be forgetting?

I agree with your points about the game as well as some people being overly negative towards Kalou, but I will at least bring up the play tonight where Kalou skipped past every one only never put a ball in and just dribble it out. If we weren't up at the time I might've viewed it differently, but at the time I thought it was quite comical.

Cech for me - that full volley should have cost us 2 points, but it didn't. Terry & Brani a close second.

And a forward should never be MOTM without a score, unless he has some assists.

Thought the defence played well, especially the centre backs, but clear MOTM for me was Mikel.

work screen not working properly so can't vote above

but my picks were------

Mikel...really steping up a level this season

Zirkov...starting to show why we invested in him

Essien...gives presence in the middle--tho his passing wayward last night and tackle for red needless

Kalou....do like him but don't think he knows what he's gonna do never mind the team knowing....would love Drogs or Nico to get that many chances to score

Ivanovic...love this guy, gives everthing for the team, may take over as hero when JT's body finally takes too much hammering....(did i see JT struggle at end when final whistle went??)

we really need to put these games to bed early, could so easily have dropped points last night after dominating...Mark get a grip you lot didn't deserve a point!!!!

Not sure if i can agree with that logic, however seeing as Kalou got an assist can you accept he is worthy of nomination?!!

Agree with everything Ethical has said other than having Kalou in front of Essien.

Struck me that we have stuck by Kalou and Mikel for a few years now and they have had some low points but always the potential. I wonder how good they will be if we keep them for another few years. For me they looked the business tonight.

Ref was shocking not seen a replay for the sending off but they should have had 5 or 6 yellows before Essien got his first yellow for a first offence. They ended the game without a booking !
