Not sure mate.  The Times reported it and they're no tabloid, not to mention his own tweets.  I'd say negotiations are happening but it depends on whether Destro wants to come here and compete with Costa and Drogba.

Hopefully it has some legs as I think we need more strength up top while it could finally make Nando make the decision we all want him to make.

Think he's a risk with a few really bad injuries, not sure what shape he is in nowdays.

Just thinking though even if we lost Cech (which is far from certain) we would still need to lose another to bring in Destro...

I think he is overrated, plus we don't need him. 4 league goals last season isn't that great but he get's a fair few assists to his name which is pretty decent. I just think he's one of these players that shows moments of brilliance and then he goes quiet for a while.

Couldn't disagree more. He wouldn't have played his way into the team if that was the case. 

 

As for not needing him, let's not do an Arsenal here. They didn't need Fabregas but he's still an massive improvement over anything they currently have. Same goes with Di Maria for us, I would love for us to sign him. Would be crazy not to at least consider it. Fits us perfectly as well, hardworking and plays pretty much anywhere in midfield.  Would allow us to loan out Salah as well so he would get more game time, he needs it.

    I agree he's a magnificent player, if a bit mentally fragile, but we'd have to get rid of Willian or Schurrle to take him on.

    Haven't di maria and jose got a great relationship though? Would be surprised if we didn't go for him seeing as a left footed forward/winger would be ideal.

    Why do you say that? Those two will still be fighting for a spot on the right, no need to sell either of them once you loan Salah out. Di Maria would replace Oscar (especially given his recent form) in the starting XI and provide a good alternative to Fabregas and Ramires in the role next to Matic.

    I thought Di Maria was most effective on the right wing?  

    There's no way we will be in for him.

    We are already one over the limit in terms of foreign players and we have too many attacking mids as it is.

    He's going to United or PSG and that's about it.

    It wouldn't be doing an Arsenal, there is no point bringing in players for the sake of it. We have a good enough midfield as it is and there is no room for him in the squad anyway so this is never going to happen.

    Destro is a good player but not sufficiently different to Costa to be worth getting. He's a similar sort of poacher with a bigger propensity to shoot from range. If we are to get another striker I'd want us to go for someone different in their style, a real pacey threat like Aubameyang or Remy
