I would take Kelvin Philips on loan from city to help in the midfield if Poch wants a new midfield don’t commit to any purchase. Hes got good experience at league and international level and will toughen up the centre by just sitting and helping things tick over. Hes also good a possession base football both at this time at Leeds and City. 6 months low risk signing.

Both an upgrade on what we currently have though. we really need somebody better than Brightons former number 2. It's like we've got Cabellro in goal all over again and he was a disaster.

I think Sanchez is a truly excellent shot stopper, and pretty good in the air. Clearly a complete liability with the ball at his feet though. Similar to De Gea in that respect I think, so I can't see him being an upgrade?

Pickford isn't a bad shout at all to be honest, and he'd certainly be a leader. Wonder how much he'd cost, and whether he'd want the move?

But i think your answer is spot on and illustrates that for the environment we're in its about horses for courses. If we have a good shot stopper and pretty good in the air, but limited with the ball at his feet, then don't play tippy toe tap football eight yards from the goals line. We didn't with Cech and won the CL.

This current incarnation of Chelsea isnot signing a goalkeeper with all attributes covered, flawless. It won't happen. The fact that we have a guy with presence and ability in soem areas means we just steer away form the area of limitations, which for me are his speed of thought when receiving the ball and close, infield distribution.

We have much much bigger issues to resolve than the passing ability of the keeper. I agree that it is a liability so only rely upon the relaible aspects that he has

I think the sloppy goals come from lack of communication across the defence.

We play ourselves into danger.

Chech and Mendy had an ability to catch a ball and therefore nullify dangerous attacks.

Pickford is probably the best all round keeper in the division. Would love him at the club. He might well fancy a change of scenery. But Whitewall is correct, we need to address other areas as a priority

We are being linked with a move for Ramsdale in January. I am actually surprised he has lost his spot at Arsenal as he had looked pretty decent for them last season.

Any avid Bundesliga watchers who can tell us more about Serhou Guirassy? Apparently only a 15m release clause.

Saw that. If we are looking to have a punt on a player like Gyokeres then this seems to be just as a good a bet but 80m cheaper. It seems a no brainer if they are going to go for the younger unproven route, but then i am often left scratching my head with the way this lot seem to go. They have paid more than this for 17 year old kids that will likely never even play for us.

Currently earns €40K a week according to capology so doubt he'd be an expensive punt on wages either.

His career record reminds me a bit of Didier at the point we signed him.

The only problem is that he is 27 so is almost old enough to be a parent to some of our squad.

I'd take Olise on his current form and bin a few of our mob..

Looking at our current right wing options, we have Madueke starting to show some form, and we also have Palmer to play RW when he's not at #10, or Sterling if he's not selected on the left

Which of those three are you binning off to bring in Olise ?

Personally I'd swap Madueke for Olise quite easily.

I think Palmer is better off playing inside than out on the right, I'd be incline to bin Sterling TBH.  He shows up when he wants and even before his gaff at Wolves tends to be greedy and for himself than the team. I watched Olise at Reading and he was for the most part far and away the best player on the team and don't forget he was with Chelsea for 7 years as a young kid.

Olise is top quality. It’s taking a minimum of £90 million to get him away from Palace.

When you look at his performances then compare to Antony and even Mudryk then £90 mill is cheap.

Would love him at Chelsea but we’ve spunked loads of money in those forward positions already.

Can see him at Liverpool or City

This is the big difference between the PL in 23/24 and a few years ago.  All clubs are getting a sh*t ton of TV money now and the mid or lower table sides no longer need to sell their best players to an elite "big six" just to stay in business. If those big clubs still want said players then they have to pay through the nose to get them.

It's punched the prices up for players from abroad as well, as the selling clubs all know that the PL clubs have money.

Yeah and that’s good for the game the premier league seems very competitive just now, even if the top 4 is somewhat predictable. Look at Villa and westham or Everton or wolves.

I think you are spot on there... defense doesn't work unless they're all singing from the same hymn sheet

Do they all speak English?
