Marc Guehi's move to Liverpool is off and the defender is set to stay at Crystal Palace, according to The Athletic.

They should have gone for Disasi as the replacement instead of the lad that they didn't get.

I think that's very unlikely. We've apparently shown zero interest in signing him even when we have a "hole" in the backline this season without Colwill. He also doesn't seem all that attached to Chelsea.

And on the free market it's likely he'll get some large wages as well and Pool will be in need of him more than ever with VVD getting a whole year older.

Think we would of had we not been hand tied with UEFA registration guidelines.

It was reported we werent interested in paying the fee Palace wanted. Well that fee has now gone away, so I would be surprised if we dont have talks with him at the very least.

I'd love if those talks really happen, but found the whole situation weird though.

I can see how we had our hands a bit tied due to UEFA, but we were willing to let him go to a major rival for "only" 35m (which we had a sell-on included if I remember correctly) while signing supposedly not wanted by anyone 40m Garnacho when we could've tried a deadline day loan for him, pushing those 40m a further year. But hell if I know how those financial guidelines are actually working.

It just means we lose the sell on, thats something that’s not taking into consideration with these sell ons. If the player runs down his contract and walks you get nothing.

It’s hard to work out why Guehi wasn’t snapped up. Is 25 to old? We spent more on Hato who the manager clearly thinks isn’t ready?? Then why bloody sign him when we already had Josh in the academy.

It’s the lack of blend in our squad thats an issue, there’s a reason it’s never been done before.

All the money spent and arguably our 4 best defenders came out the academy and our best option in the market also came out our academy. Why are we spending £40m on Dutch 19yr olds? Anselmino’s gone to Germany? It’s stupid.

Kurt Zouma signing for a club in Romania feels so weird.

Two seasons ago he was playing 33 matches for West Ham, now goes to the 14th place in Romania. They also got thumped in the Conference League qualies by Hacken, some Swedish club.

The Romanian club has a recent history of signing crooks. Julio Baptista was there and barely played a minute while getting a huge contract. Konoplyanka was also there on a fat contract and barely played a minute.

They sign all these "superstars" from time to time that never get to play, they are either injured for longer periods, or never fit enough or God knows what other problems they have. Their owner is a shady guy and people wonder whether or not he is doing somebody a favour by signing these guys.

Hato is a left footer whereas guehi is a right footer, more importantly.

Hato is 19,Guehi is 25 and Guehi will demand at least double of what Hato demand.

If any of you have played fm then what Chelsea is doing doesn't surprise you. This is standard for everyone who play fm.

Robert, politely, this isn’t Football Manager, this is real life, this is a real club with real fans. It’s not some fictional being to be played around with at whim.

You can’t just ‘revert to last save’ when you accidentally buy a Winger from the Bundesliga for 60M with worse output than the Winger you just had on loan that you PAID to send back.

You can’t just keep moving players around as though they aren’t actual human beings with families and connections to areas.

Guehi is right footed but has played on the left many times, including for England.

Then he could switch to the right when colwill returns.

If wages are so important why do we treble or quadruple the salaries of these young players when we sign them…why not just double it?

Why are we paying £100k’s a week for players to play for other clubs?

Why have we left £100m’s on the table with no FOS sponsor. And that £27m fine could have helped.

The money is there for us all to see, a slight tweak in how they’re spending it and on what is all that needs adjusting.

I like Hato, think he has great potential to be a top player. If we didn’t need a top class experienced CB to go straight into the team then sign him up but with Josh already there potential isn’t what the squad needed right now.

In real life Hato could become an elite level defender, alas Colwill and Guehi arent currently. They are just good to very good. We need at least one elite level defender if we are going to stay as top level club.
