Another Chelsea fan was Richard O'Sullivan the actor, who has fallen on hard times in recent years, remember on blue Peter at Christmas Peter Duncan was given Chelsea scarf and hat on the show, Simon Groom his co presenter was  a Derby fan and got a mug, as a young lad all I wanted for Christmas was the female presenter Sarah Greene!!!

Richard O’Sullivan used to live in Fulham when he was with an actress (can’t remember her name, fit with dark hair). He used to drink in the Jolly Brewers in St Dionis road Fulham prematch and most other nights.

We were often buying him drinks when he was between filming and broke, but he’d buy drinks for us when he was working,

Derek Deadman another actor used to drink in there as well. Look him up, you will recognise him immediately.

That was my Dad's regular pub and my Mum used to play the piano in there on Saturday nights.  Robin Nedwell lived half way down St.Dionis Road, I think he was a Chelsea fan too.  Rodney Bewes definitely was and he lived in Betteridge Road.

@Peckham Blue I must be getting old. Mind going. It was actually Robin Nedwell in the pub most weeks, lived just down the road as you say, he had the fit actress bird, only saw OSullivan in there a couple of times.  Derek Deadman almost lived in there. Right old fashioned little snug pub

Popped in the brewers pre match fairly often as used to play football with the lads whose dad was the landlord. Even had my 18th birthday drinks in there, the landlord wished me happy birthday and then asked how old I was. Bear in mind i’d been drinking there for a couple of years and knew his sons....

Would that be the McGuigan family?  If so I used to go to Chelsea with John back in the late 70’s, he was a few years younger than me though.

Wasn’t sure where to post this but this thread seemed the best place for obvious reasons to me but it broke yesterday that Mickey T has a big fight on his hands and I know all of us old (and still young) gits wish him a mass of man love ...fight like your fans Mickey

If Mickey Thomas hadn't signed for us that season, us lot wouldn't of possibly had the enjoyment of that season and the next couple of seasons, and also the memories we still reminisce about on here 35 years later. To my memory has any Chelsea player played as least games but become so iconic for of fans of certain age. Your be okay Mickey, you got the shed, Gate 13, and benches behind you!! Carefree

All the best Mickey T.

Man City v Chelsea, Oct 10th 1966

4-1 us.

Man City, back in the first division after three seasons away, facing top of the table Chelsea in October 1966.

Look out for a scrap involving Mike Summerbee and Eddie McCreadie and a friendly salute for the Kippax from Peter Osgood.

This was the first edition of Match of the Day to come from Maine Road. Notice that the cameras are above the Kippax and facing the main stand.

Goals

Man City: Neil Young;

Chelsea: Bobby Tambling, Tommy Baldwin, Joe Kirkup, Peter Osgood.

Those were the days when you could casually flick the v sign at opposition fans and no one batted an eyelid.
