If memory still serves me, remember being at bridge later that season when we played them at home in fa cup, we lost 3-2, speedie missed pen and fash the bash gave our back four the run around, Millwall lit bonfires on north terrace, and it went off in gate 13

Yes you're right. I was on the benches for the milk cup game 3-1, but was in gate 13 for the F A cup game. Millwall had bought tickets further down the east lower and came in during the game.

Dead right. I was in the benches for that game. The Millwall lads were burning their coats and anything else on the terraces.

mental night

That's probably the first time I saw a smoke bomb at a football match.  Forest were game in the two seasons in Div 2, gave a good account of themselves early in the '75 season and it kicked off big time outside the North Stand gates.  The old bill had segregation sorted by the end of the following season above but they still came down in numbers, it was a big promotion match.

Back then I would rate them, Birmingham & Stoke as the 3 main midland crews when playing at home.

Stoke for sure who I rated, Leicester and Wolves not bad too.  Villa and West brom were w**k.  And Derby too.

Big Doug Rougvie was a good signing and he did well for us.

If playing today, he'd have won about 50 caps for Scotland. I don't think he got more than half a dozen back in the early 1980s.

If playing for us  today he'd probably be earning more in a week than he earned in a year back then too !
