just Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Being reported on the radio we have signed this 18 year old; http://www.dailymail...ck-Bamford.html I am sure he will be another one to go out on loan. Chelsea FC we do more loans than Barclays.
Saaladin Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I have no problem with buying up a bunch of youth and loaning them out. What I do have a problem with is not buying the young talents that have already established themselves when we had a chance to in the summer and again in this window. We have been way to passive and we might miss out on CL next year because of it. Whoever thought Mata and Meireles would solve all our problems is not too bright...
Ben Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Me neither, what frustrates me is their is work to do on the squad to qualify for champs league again. Yes we have been winning, but we are playing awful predictable football. Heard Graham Hunter, on TalkSport, say Jose wants to come back to Chelsea for unfinished business (IE the Champs League). Do you think AVB wouldn't mind being a well paid scout again?

He needs dropped.
Saaladin Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Yeah, that Mata is sh*te isn`t he. He needs dropped. Mata has been good, I didn't say he wasn't but him alone as the plan to challenge for the title plus Meireles who was a desperation buy after our big plans for Modric fell through, was a very weak and ill-conceived plan. I like Mata as a player for sure, he's clever, can pick out a pass, has a great first touch and a good passer but lets not get carried away. Mata is not a do it on his own player or a big time goal scorer. Mata is a link up player that uses passing and movement off the ball to make things happen. He's not Bale, he's not Walcott, he's not Robben. And thats ok, but for Chelsea to think that getting Mata and sticking him into a team with players who don't share his style of play was going to work is short-sighted.
ace Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 1920: I told you at 1830 it was one to watch out for, and it appears I was right. BBC Radio Nottingham understands that Chelsea are set to sign 18-year-old striker Patrick Bamford from Nottingham Forest for about £1.5m. Bamford has only played two first-team games but has been in prolific form in the FA Youth Cup this season, and Chelsea were one of a number of clubs to take note.
geezer Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Martin Lipton now reporting this deal is likely to go through before the deadline cut off
undertow Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Then it must be true, after all he does know how the game is played, eh?
General Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 funny because AVB in his post game press interview said no more new players in the window, but the the club sign this kid for 1.5 mill then send him off to the youth set up, nice to see the 1st team manager in the loop, feel bad for AVB must be frustrating dealing with CFC board and rest of the cronies and hangers on (agents included)
Saaladin Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 At this rate with the kids we have we'll be in position to win the CL in five to six years. Until then we're taking Europa for years to come...
mad_mac Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 He is going straight into the youth team, as we have loaned a few of our lads out. He is also top scorer in the FAYC. If he is signed for the youth team, then would AVB know about him coming? Welcome Also, this should now be in the General, or Youth Team section?
Spiller86 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Welcome aboard sir. We look forward to your progress!
Damnation Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Again, a great transfer: 1,5 million for someone who played 2 matches in the championship and has a contract till the end of the season. He'll stay in our academy for 2-3 years and then join a mid table Eredivise team.

Fergie said they werent signing anyone, then they signed some young Swiss player from City. I suppose they arent in the loop either.

EdinburghBlue Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Knowing them two, they were probably drunk. Is that because their Scots Davey ha.
The Moos Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 When is the youth team playing their next game? Would be nice to maybe see him in action.
barak81 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 The number 9 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVpMW3sU0cY&feature=related
ant-sw6 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 He's supposedly cup tied in the Youth Cup though so wont be able to play against West Ham or in any subsequent matches in that.
Fast Eddie Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Yeah, that Mata is sh*te isn`t he. He needs dropped. 'roll eyes' Anyway, not much on You Tube (understandably) but he scores a cracker here with his left. Favours the left but can play with both apparently:
wxwax Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 The number 9 Thanks. Pace and skill. A heady combination. Have to admit I feel bad for Forest, having to sell a promisng youngster for very little money.
ace Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Connor Wickham went to Sunderland for 7m and Oxlade-Chamberlain cost Arsenal at least 12m, maybe up to 15. Obviously Bamford might not develop at the same rate as those two since he will be playing reserve football instead of every day in the Championship, but 1.5m seems like a steal for a highly rated English youngster. Hope he progresses well and forms a nice partnership with Feruz.
just Posted February 2, 2012 Author Posted February 2, 2012 (edited) Have to admit I feel bad for Forest, having to sell a promisng youngster for very little money. I wouldn't worry. We'll probably sell him back for half the price in three years. Edited February 2, 2012 by just
