It annoys me when I hear of creative players playing deep, Pirlo was a one off as was Makelele in the holding role.

To me the role has evolved and Ramires has the ability to get up and down to attack and protect.

Mikel is getting forward more these days and I am amazed nobody on here is giving him credit for an excellent start to the season!

I did sort of give them credit in another thread when I picked Ramires and Mikel out as having Blossomed under Robbie...there has been a noticable improvement for sure.

There are plenty of us who have given Mikel the credit that he deserves. It's just that the people who aren't satisfied with his play feel the need to post about it in every thread, regardless of whether or not it's even topical, thus giving the illusion that the consensus is dissatisfaction.

You obviously don't read emough threads as he has been getting more than enough credit. Even I gave him MOTM in one of the games.

I'm not disagreeing with the overall point that KDB should be here with Chelsea, I was disappointed when he was loaned out as I didn't feel he was given enough time in pre-season to show what he's about. I think he could be a great alternative to one of Hazard/Mata/Oscar if they were injured or rested. Or even play farther back alongside Mikel or Ramires (alongside Ramires would work better I think).

I think he was that attributes to be a great replacement for Lampard, but with the versatility to play on the wing and interchange with the Magic trio.

For me De Bruyne resembles Gerrard more than Lampard. A player of his calibre deserves first team football which I doubt he can be guaranteed at the Bridge. It will be extremely difficult to fit him in when he comes back from Werder Bremen. He was loaned out to a club where he could really develop and that's why Bremen was chosen. It will be interesting to see how it works out as his chances of playing there regularly are more realistic than at the Bridge. There is too much competition here at present. Only time will tell how it works out.

Well I'm sure he already said he doesn't want to stay at Werder next year, he wants to come back to Chelsea and fight for a place.

De Bruyne has been compared to Gerrard, Scholes and regarded by some as the natural successor to Lampard. Irrespecive of who he resembles, he is an intelligent footballer with excellent movement and awareness in midfield which are basic requirements for a creative player. I believe he would be a success more centrally located than out wide. Good to see he's doing well for Werder Bremen and Belgium. He is an extremely talented footballer and it would be a mistake for Chelsea to let him go.

A lot of us have, I have and if you read through my posts you'll see how desperately I wanted him gone before the start of the season but he's impressed me a lot this season.

Well he's sh*t-hot for me on Football Manager. 2014/2015 season playing in AMC role and he's worth £34,500,000. Based on that alone we should be happy to have him, because Football Manager is real! :JC_doubleup:

No, we shouldn't unless there's been a huge injury crisis or something. I doubt he'd be a starter here straight away, and he'd need time to adjust to the pivot. We should just wait till the end of this season.

Well we know that players who play well for Bremen don't exactly get much of a chance here......

Saw highlights of weekend game and the boy really is impressing. 4 goals from midfield already, really hope we give him a chance here!

Given his good form, I've been thinking how we could use him next term. I understand it's ultimately a question of what happens this season but if we still have RDM next season and if he is still playing his preferred 4231, then I cant see him going anywhere other than the deep midfielder role alongside a defensive mid. People keep saying he could play the Lampard role but there is no Lampard role in this setup, at least not what made him a great midfielder of his generation.

If, however, we were to switch back to 433 then certainly KDB would have the Lampard role where he would be most effective in my opinion. Whatever be the case, I think he would be in the fold next season and would be a great addition to the squad.

Because we signed him in the perfect period!

First he was good,outstanding games...(year with courtois etc)

So a few teams where looking at him,but a while after that..Genk was a warzone,fights on training nobody in form included de Bruyne..

But Chelsea allready started the negotiatons about him (this was the time,I criticized him and was hoping we didn't signed him).

But Chelsea did ,I was frustrated :biggrin:

So I think at that moment every other club was thinking,OMG what are they buying...

After he signed the deal,he stood up and was like a boss in Genk..He did some controversial interviews (about the team,that they don't gave enough etc),and from that point he destroyed every opponent in the last few games of that season.

And the succes did not end in Bremen,it is only going up and up...
