It's a strange feeling for me. Normally at this time of year I'd be preparing myself to be without football in a months time. Maybe it is a poor and strange attitude to have bearing in mind we have a lot to play for but I quite like the feeling of stepping into the unknown. In many ways this reminds me of the 02/03 season where we needed a top 4 finish but knew the team was going to be broken up.

I hate to be one of these doom merchants but for the first time I get no excitement watching us play. Despite what the haters used to say I never bought into the myth that we were a boring team to watch under Jose, maybe I'm different but I prefer a more direct approach to football. Give me Real Madrid's style over Barca's anyday or Norwich's over Swansea's/ Man City's over Arsenal.

Our midfield grossly lacks creativity and ability to retain the ball, I feel the likes of Luiz and even JT/Cahill/Cech have come in for a lot of unfair criticism from fans and the media (many of whom have never played the game at any level). If you have a midfield that can't retain the ball and impotent strikers there will always be added pressure on your defence. Strikers aren't scrutinised for their mistakes (missing easy goal-scoring opportunities) in the same way that defenders (not picking up markers etc) and Goalkeepers (failing to stop shots) are.

The recent performances in the games against Fulham and Spurs have upset me more than any loss this season. I used to pride myself on the fact we always stood up to be counted in those kind of games but I had to hold my hands up to Fulham and Spurs mates after and admit we were toothless and they both should have won. I can't help but feel if they had both taken the lead in those games we would have lost with no response or change in attitude.

So anyway, I'm looking forward to the Euro's and seeing the players on show and hopefully we'll have a new manager, some wingers, a better midfield and be able to progress and not have to watch these mundane performances each week.

To be honest i said the same thing a while back. I to am excited to see what the summer brings. I do hope there are some comings and more important some goings.

For me the most important thing to do first is get a manager in. Not wait until after the Euros, get him in by the end of May. I really do hope that Since the AVB sacking Chelsea have been working on getting our new manager. HOW EVER i get the feeling that im going to be disappointed and a new manager will come in a week or so before pre season and then he will have to keep all the same players because he wont know them and come January, Feb time he will be sacked.

As I've said in the "following our rivals" topic, I think this has been the worst season for English football in a long time. I personally can't wait to get this season behind us, I just hope we'll be in the Champions League...

It should have happened under AVB but it isnt so easy is it, You have to have the board back you in everyway. Say AVB wanted Lampard to leave 1, would the board have agreed and 2, the fans would have gone mad. Now if it happened this summer i think it would be a little more accepted.

Also there are so many players that need replacing we cant surely do it all in one summer. Unless we have another summer like when Roman first joined with a mass of players shown the door and replaced with good young hungry players. Will Roman splash out like that again? Im not so sure.

My life expectancy is going to definetly go down with our upcoming fixtures, Liverpool in a final, Barca in CL and Arsenal in the league and as we all know, supporting Chelsea is never easy! Come on Chelsea!!!!

But back on topic, I am really looking forward to the season end, hopefully bringing the end of;

Bosingwa

Malouda

Essien (Hate to say it)

Drogba? (He's been an icon for Chelsea but does he bring those performances with him enough anymore?)

Kalou (If he continues his current form then i've got no problem with him staying)

Mikel (Same as above)

Although i'm hoping we bring in a winger, central midfielder and a right back;

Hulk (I'd prefer him more to getting Hazard who in my opinion believes his own press too much, Hulk is more a Chelsea type of player strong but he's also got the added bonus of pace and skill)

Modric (Dosen't seem interested at Tottenham and would be perfect in our midfield with Mata maybe with Ramires as well.)

Van Der Wiel (Very similar player to Ashley Cole and is very young as well)

Cavani (Could be optional if we want to bolster our attack, depending on what we do with Drogba and even Torres)

Although i'm hoping for our team to look something like this next season;

Cech

Ivanovic Luiz Terry Cole

Ramires Mikel

Hulk Modric Mata

Torres

A month ago I'd have agreed. Beleaguered manager, out of sorts players, miles adrift of 4th and had a mountain to climb in the CL. Yet now we're in a cup final having just thrashed Spurs, got another unexpected semi-final coming up and we still have a shot at 4th place. Can't wait for the next month now. It's a funny ol game!

Beat Spuds on Sunday 5-1 no less, Arsenal lost last night, Barca tomorrow, Arsenal at the weekend with all to play for, team in good form and spirit, Roberto making good decisions, promising youngsters on the books, possibility of new blood over the summer x3? Can't see too much of a drama or is the glass half full...

How can you want this season to end?!!!

We have an FA Cup final to look forward to. We are playing for a place in the CL Final, against a fantastic Barca side. We are fighting tooth and nail to qualify for next season's CL against two of our biggest London rivals.

If you can't enjoy that then I don't know what will excite you!

I wonder if that other bloke who started a thread ages ago saying he was bored of watching us still feels the same way.

This is the best time of a very poor season for us. I have to admit, i have lost a bit of the magic this year when watching Chelsea. I used to wake up on match day eager to get the clock to KO time...but this year that has not really been the case.

Maybe it is because i am getting older? Or maybe it was the style and general mundane/pedestrian way our play has been the last two years....i dont know, but i never had this feeling before. I remember sitting out in my car just to get a radio signal to listen to our midweek matches (some years ago!), but that enthusiasm hasnt been there recently.

What i do know is that, now we have got to this position with this run of big games, it is very exciting again.

I don't want the season to end, but the tension is killing me. By know I think we all realize this squad is a bit outgunned. You can't help but have a bit of fear before every match.

It's exciting. You're never sure what's going to happen. But like a very tense novel, sometimes you wouldn't mind skipping to the last page just to find out how it all ended-up. :laugh2:

Every match we play, its like we're running at 10% above and beyond our capabilities.

Not that I'm complaining. Can't wait for the next few games, to see us try to pick up silverware, and for the summer, where we rebuild for the future!

Never get bored of watching Chelsea, disgusted, sometimes, but never bored.

Not to sound down about being in an FA cup final and the potential of a UCL final but I am looking forward to seeing what happens at the club during the off season.

Do we stay with RDM and let him build the team?

Do we go for a big time manager? Jose?

Do we start building a younger team? Youngsters like Adam Johnson, Victor Moses, Junior Hoillet all available and who would be great buys for Chelsea. Do will be leaving from the "Old Guard" Malouda? Kalou? DROGBA???

Will be interesting when we get their but I am going to saviour the last few weeks of the season and hope we can have the FA Cup and dream that we can finally get that UCL trophy we have (and Roman) have been aching to get our hands on for a few years.

The interviewer basically asked him if it would be his last Champions League game at the Bridge and he just kinda laughed it off, saying "Ohh... haha... I always get asked this question" etc

not entirely sure he will leave. I think Anelka will badger him to go to China but be suprised if he goes there. I do think we have to prepare for these legends of Chelsea to leave, Lampard as much as he has suprised me this year will not be able to play at this level too much longer (although every year he seems to top the previous season), Terry I can see his injuries really catching up and with the court case in the summer can see him maybe passing the mantle to Cahill (natural successor of captain?) and Drogba well we were all told that his natural successor was Lukaku so let s see what happens I suppose.

But these players have and will be leaving in the next few years and we should have to be prepared but respect their decision as they all have been great servents.

Well Malouda hasnt, I would pay for his flight out if I had the chance.

Can't see Drogba going to China and being managed by Anelka.. That would be weird. Although to be fair, Anelka managing anyone seems bloody weird to me. One of the last players I would have imagined to go into management.
