stevo Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Quite liked him, I know he was not liked by many.Wish him all the best for the future. http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10268~2827308,00.html
superdan Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 A player who never got too many headlines for the right or wrong reasons. He scored some important goals and seems to have been around for ages - when you look at our list of all time goalscorers he ranks above many I would consider great players http://thechels.info/wiki/List_of_all-time_goalscorers but he never seemed to have a long consistent run. A brilliant dribbler I think I'll remember him best for never scoring if he had time to think but usually scoring when he didn't! Am sure as a 26 year old he has a lot ahead of him though I'm not sure we would have seen much more out of him at Chelsea he might just go out and prove us wrong!
stevo Posted July 1, 2012 Author Posted July 1, 2012 Well said, I think he needs to be at another team if he wants to progress.
alan'82 Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Yep,good luck Sol. Didn't quite develope into the player I'd hoped he'd be, but a good lad who can look back at his time at Chelsea with fond memories, (& medals).
DoubleHelix74 Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 I always liked him personally and he played quite well for us. May have done a few too many crossovers or missed some golden opportunities but overall he had a good career with us and played a hand in many of our trophies! Never complained and was always ready to play when called upon! Wish you well Kalou! You still have a lot of years to play and I'm sure wherever you go, you will be successful! Just please don't sign for the Scouse!
Uno Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Good luck to the fella. He leaves with loads of winners medals and a nice full bank account. Do i think he will go on to improve? No i dont. I think he will always be a squad player unless he joins a smaller league or a team lower down the big leagues.
The Brit Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 nice guy, with some talent, but too erratic to become a regular and just didn't improve...goes away with our blessing and also with the knowledge that he is lucky to have as many winners' medals as he does given his actual ability, not that I begrudge him, but he was fortunate to be playing with some genuinely phenomenol players
Zeta Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Didn't really improve over the 6 years he was here. Still as erratic and frustrating from his debut till his last game. Hopefully he'll join another league, because if he stays i England he'll obviously score against us.
mad_mac Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Best of luck to him. Will never forget him running to the benches in tears in Moscow. Fantastic impact sub, and a humble person.
AdelaideChelsea Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I really liked Kalou, but his days were numbered when we signed Eden Hazard.
Tea Bar Boy Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Frustrating, but will always be a legend due to this: Kalou a legend ????? ................................errr no , never !!!!!!
Uno Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Frustrating, but will always be a legend due to this: And thats why we love Saloman Kalou. La la la la la la la la
Hitsu Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 An infuriating player on his day, would jink past 3 defenders then shank the ball to row Z, or be caught offside like his hero growing up was Inzaghi But damn the lad scored some important goals for us, always busted a gut and never really complained about having a squad role. Hopefully he gets a run at a non-English team and it goes really well for him
Nibs Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Since I heard the news that Kalou was going, well I'm still wiping the tears from my eyes. (Tears of JOY that is).
SydneyChelsea Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 I've never seen a player be caught offside from an innocuous wide position as he. Flaws aside he was a wonderful squad player, you could not ask more from a third choice.
Frank_Lampard8 Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 He did what he could for us, but he has never lived up to what we thought he could be, I hope he carries on doing well for himself and has all my best wishes for his future.
jack_super_class Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 I've always liked Kalou but like most of you have said inconsistent and you didn't know what Kalou was going to turn up.Best thing for him was to leave ive heard schalke are in for him,i expect he will have plenty of options. He was a better sub for me than a starter and he always preferred to play CF but was always going to be hard for him. Thanks Kalou.
Gem Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Having a medical/agreed terms/signs for at Lille according to Twitter. Everyone is saying Lille but varying at what stage his transfer is at.
Maksimov Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 He was a good squad player and scored quite a few goals. I refuse to say a bad thing about him, even if he occasionally might have given a reason to do so. Great attitude and seemed like a very likeable lad. Hope he does well at Lille. Carefree, Salomon, Carefree!
KURT.5 Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Yeah, its looking like Lille is his destination. I'm wondering whether it was part of the Eden agreement, but anyhow good luck to him.
dkw Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Happy with that, glad he`s left the country as I would hate to have seen him play us. Though we will now almost definitely get Lille in the CL (if they are in it).
shedpensioner Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Seems like a fair trade for us, not sure for them though?? We get 1 of the brightest young talents in European football. They get a squad player, who after years of playing football hasn't mastered the offside rule yet!
