Goal for Pasalic today in a 1-1 draw with 10 men against Lyon. Although the goal was just a header from a corner.
 

Was surprised to see Christensen start against Juventus, played well for the small bit I saw as well. Manager seems to have a lot of faith in him, I can see him being our Stones.

He won't get a chance here though. We would have to sell him then sign him for £20m+ in order for him to get a game. It's all about price tag at Chelsea

I disagree. Jose is well aware of his potential. He kept him around last season and gave him a medal for the few times he played. This is more of a Solanke situation I feel.

Sorry to disagree but he isn't a jose buy, I'm not confident he has a chance at the club given the way we're going all out to find a future partner for zouma

Surely it more boils down to whether he fits Jose style of play or not rather than if jose bought him or not.

And more likely than not a Jose signing he will have been bought with this in mind.

The fact that Jose is looking elsewhere suggests he might not be considered as the future 1st choice pairing but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have only one egg in the basket you need 3 or 4 top quality CB's in a squad and he could quite easily be one of those and who knows he could oust who ever we have bought for this position.

And since the players we have been linked to are similar players to Christensen in Stones and Marquinos, it shows he might just fit what Jose is looking for.

This is what Im thinking. This summer Stones was much more first team ready than him. No reason we cant sign 1 more and still bring him back if he never turns out to be top class.

On the other hand if he keeps turning in great performances all season there may not be a reason to buy another first choice CB.

Why are players like Ake, Christensen & Kalas out on loan when they are better than some of our current squad? But in all seriousness, considering the way this season is shaping up and Mourinho's tendencies, it doesn't look like a good season for integrating youth into the squad.

"If the season goes in one direction, that it becomes closed and we can't win [trophies], I will go just with the kids. It makes no sense, when you have nothing to win, to play the older players. I'll play the players we're waiting for instead."

 

If the above is taken literally you'd expect more young players to play more minutes as of late. However, we've seen very little of that so far. Kennedy looked very lively coming off the bench and looked like he could at least be a good impact sub this season (what's happened to him?). And if Jose sees Baba as his future left back, wouldn't he want to blood him in?

 

Would need some Goldilocks scenario for Mourinho to start playing the youth. He'll rely on the tried and trusted if the team is chasing a CL spot. Can only see a lot of game time for youth if the team has secured a CL place.

The CL spot is probably the reason he keeps playing older players. We still have 3 cups to play for as well. If we go out of all three soon, god forbid, hes got no choice

What I meant is that the youth players better start making Jose better porridge for breakfast. Hopefully that will get him in a better mood and smiling again

 

Or rather, what I meant is only in a season that is "just right" (not fighting for 1st or 4th) will jose give a lot of chances to youth. If you liked the analogy, going for 1st place would be like a porridge that is too hot and battling for 4th it is too cold.

Given Wenger is known for giving youth players a shot I think this shows Jose can and will play youth, admittedly we have been in pretty bad shape and a lot will believe he could have done more but playing youth has been one of the positive this season has brought. I mean 900 minutes for players under 21 in 10 games isn't that bad.
