Our Youth on Loan

Featured Replies

That year out ruined kakutas chance with us.

He recovered from that injury though and still was looking good. I think the season after we won the double there was a push to play youngsters like kakuta, bruma, and borini, the season didn't go well we didn't integrate them well enough, and that group of youngsters took the fall with ancelotti.

I remember him playing for us away against Aston Villa under Carlo... I hadn't really seen him before that and I remember thinking to myself "not sure why we went through so much trouble to sign this lad".

I meant the whole time out banned, then the broken leg and the recovery time he basically missd a full year at the most important time of his development. Very unlucky.

I forgot about the ban! Things could've been so different, he is one of the most gifted youth players I've seen. Hopefully he goes on to have a decent career, even if he never reaches his potential.

It appears Bertrand Traore will get a work permit and a chance to join our first team squad - looks good from the clips I've seen. Just wonder if he will be able to cut it in the Premier League.

Looks like Tomas Kalas and Nathan Ake will both get loans to Kranaka's Middlesborough. Personally i would prefer them to get loans to promoted Premier league teams as i think they'll push for starting places, especially Ake. Nevertheless, Karanka will give them minutes which can only be beneficial in a promotion chasing Championship side.

It is kinda depressing. Our youth team isn't for us, it's an investment vehicle. We buy at a couple of million when they are 15 and hope to shift them for ten when they are 22. There's pretty much zero interest in getting them to play for us.

We spent 5m on kalas, hopefully we have recouped a couple of mill in loan fees, and we haven't paid his wages for most of the time he's been here, as I think we will struggle to get a good price for him.

I guess you win some and lose some.

Just finished watching the Vitesse's 3-0 loss to Southampton. 2 starts for Brown and Baker both getting the full 90 and Pantic on as a sub getting around 30 mins.

Baker had a decent game until making a poor mistake which led to a Southampton goal. Playing as a deep lying play maker he looked comfortable and composed on the ball despite the pressing game Southampton like to play

Brown was pretty ineffectual playing at RM didn't really get to do too much going forward but he at least did his duty tracking back.

Pantic looked a handful when he came on, some good dribbling and an enthusiastic work rate which I like to see.

All the players didn't look out of their depth which is nice to see they should all get decent game time this season and hopefully they continue to develop.
