Our Youth on Loan

Featured Replies

Defender Dion Conroy has today joined Aldershot Town of the National League on loan until January.

The centre-back, who has won the FA Youth Cup and Under-21 Premier League since joining Chelsea as an Under-13, will continue his development at the EBB Stadium.

Goalkeeper Nathan Baxter, an FA Youth Cup winner last season, has signed for Ryman Premier Division side Met Police on loan until January.

Earlier today, Cristian Cuevas re-joined Belgian side Sint-Truidense on loan for the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old Chilean spent the 2015/16 campaign with the top-flight club, making 29 appearances, and now returns for a second stint.

Cuevas was part of the Chelsea squad which travelled to Austria in pre-season, featuring in the 8-0 win over Atus Ferlach at our Velden training base.

Clarke-Salter is a reasonably solid CB, from the bits I saw last season seemed mostly to play it safe, nothing too crazy.

Colkett reminds me a lot of Josh McEachran in playing style, hopefully he'll have a better attitude.

Colkett is a gem. Honestly have very very high hopes for him.

JCS is a good CB. But has his issues, just like all young defenders.

Charlie may struggle physically but has a good diagonal and can pick out any type of pass, based on his performances for the U21/U19's the potential is there to be League 1's Cesc Fabregas but will need your boys to find space for him to work his magic.

Clarke-Salter has the potential to be a solid CB but still needs to fill out physically - was the youth team's skipper last season so has a good head on his shoulders. May struggle against physical CFs and isn't the quickest but has good technique/is a good all rounder - he'll make mistakes i'm sure but if he plays regularly he should improve as the season goes on.

Izzie Brown put Rotherham ahead against Bristol City. Just need Tammy to do his stuff now and get them back in the game.

So as a fan who just recently started following Chelsea more closely is it safe to say that Chelsea's top 5 youth at the moment are: Ola Aina, Christensen, Reuben Loftus-Cheek, Colkett and Tammy Abraham? All of them seem extremely promising and 4 out of 5 of them are British...Chelsea could definitely use more English representation.

I think Baker is as good if not better than RLC at the moment. Same goes for NAT.

And the most talented and promising of them all : Charly Musonda. I think that kid has the potential to be world class if molded correctly.

I would add Musonda, Troare, Solanke and Tomori some where to that list and it will be interesting to see how Jake Clarke Salter does in his first season of professional football. You might need to increase your list to 10.

My top 5 is probably Christensen, Musoonda, Loftus-Cheek, Tomori and Tammy.

Don't forget about Boga. He is not the best without the ball, and he often is guilty of holding on to the ball for to long, but his ability on the ball is amazing, and he also is quite good physically. If he can iron out some of is flaws he could become one hell of a player. At the moment he is doing better in La Liga than Musonda.

My top 5 would probably be Christensen, Loftus-Cheek, Traore, Aina and Chalobah

Others that look promising imo are Boga, Musonda, Tomori, Clarke Salter, Solanke, Abraham, Palmer, Baker

Then there are less established, younger players with potential like for example Dujon Sterling or Jay Dasilva, but they still have a long way to go.

Thanks guys, definitely got to look at a few more. Tomori, Baker, and Musonda sound very promising as well.

It was sad to see not one of Aina, RLC or Chalobah on the bench tonight...

Yet another goal for Tammy today and good to see Charlie Colkett getting late winner for Bristol Rovers (where Clarke-Salter has also gone). Lets send all our youngsters to Bristol!!

Do we still class Ake and Kenedy as youth? Guess so. Disappointing that neither appear to be getting much playing time at Bournemouth & Watford respectively. Neither featured at the weekend and Kenedy didn't even make the bench (so perhaps he's picked up a knock?).

These PL loan moves really don't seem to work although I see Bamford got 9 minutes for Burnley!

And did absolutely nothing! I honestly don't remember him touching the ball at any point (not that Burnley's complete lack of ambition helped). They're not playing at all well.

Colkett and Clarke-Salter scored for us today.

They also set up a goal in the week away to MK Dons, a sublime pass from Colkz to Clarke Salter who put the ball across to Taylor, well worth seeing if you haven't already.

Big fan of Colkz. You can see the kid has class. Excited to seeing more of him this season. Obviously hard to tell how good as we are in league one but I highly rate him and he seems to have a great attitude. Fans here love him already.
