December 24, 201213 yr Both right, and after JT, and 24 goals behind is.............................Torres.
December 25, 201213 yr Sentimentality shouldnt cloud the boards or fans judgement. Lampard is one of my fave ever Chelsea players, he has been the best goalscoring midfielder we ever had, possible the best ever (open for debate), and loves the club... I also feel we have missed his leadership in the absence of JT. Lamps has always been a willing and able deputy captain, and for me it is no coincidence that our form has improved since his return to the team. He is an old head on the field who adds a little bit of calm to our middle, whihc is needed at this time with all the youngsters and new signings we have. however.... Despite the above, i am also mindful of the times over the last 2 seasons where lampards decline has been evident. He was woeful at times last season, and rightly in my opinion started the season out of the starting 11. I do not especially like him in the 2 central position and feel that often the game can pass him by when he plays there. It is fine when playing lower level teams like leeds and an young villa team where the midfield have allowed lamps time and possession, however against better oppostion i do think that frankie looks out of his depth in the deep lying centre position. When he is paired with Rambo or Oscar in the middle their pace covers for lamps, however when paired with mikel our only fit DM, then i think we look very suspect. Many are calling for a giggs type role for him at the club, however they both possess different attributes and i am not sure lampard as a bit part player would work...i am not sure he would want it either. Frank has often admitted that he needs a run of games in order to find form, and playing here or there ala giggs is not going to benefit him or the club greatly. It is a toughie because we are all so fond of super Frank, but looking at the matter realistically, if it was my money, i would not sign him up on a two year contract at this stage. a one year or one year with an extension would suit, but it would have to be on greatly reduced wages. FFP is a reality, and a bit part player, legend or otherwise, whould be commanding a very high wage. I think Frank would be best heading over to the states, where he will be a superstar, a certain starter, will have time on the ball and will get paid generously.
December 26, 201213 yr Not sure if it's been mentioned, but another weird stat from the Villa match. Apparently it was Frank's 100th Premier League goal that he's scored in London and according to the article I read, only Thierry Henry has been able to do that. It didn't mention how many Henry has, though.
December 27, 201213 yr If I'm not mistaken, 12 goals to go to equal Tambling and 13 to beat the record. Can somebody confirm this?
December 27, 201213 yr If I'm not mistaken, 12 goals to go to equal Tambling and 13 to beat the record. Can somebody confirm this? The old reliable wikipedia seems to agree with you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Chelsea_F.C._records_and_statistics#All-time_top_goalscorers For some reason I wasn't able to find the info on the official site, although I'm pretty sure they used to have stats and records there.
December 27, 201213 yr He will definitely overcome Dixon. If somehow he stays another year I think he will overcome Tambling too. Maybe if he gets lucky this year and gets to score some pens in the remainder of this season (PL, EL, FA, CC) he may well break it this season (I hope).
December 30, 201213 yr Chelsea have won 9 out of 10 PL games when Lampard has started this season and lost 7 from 8 when he's not played. This is conclusive proof that he does not deserve a new contract and is basically sh*t. On a serious note, that was a quality header.
December 30, 201213 yr I think he perhaps might be out best player ever. You could have punctuated that differently. I think he perhaps might be out. Best player ever.
December 30, 201213 yr I so hope that sh*t board has taken their heads out of their arses to see how vital Lampard is. Grow a f*cking spine Roman and sack those tw*ts! Bad enough you disrespected us with Rafa but do we have to see Lamps packing up a month later.
December 30, 201213 yr I think he perhaps might be out best player ever. You could have punctuated that differently. I think he perhaps might be out. Best player ever. My phone's autocorrect was set to another language Lol.
December 30, 201213 yr To let Frank go at this point would be a crime against sense and sensibility And we are just the type of crazy club to let him go.
December 30, 201213 yr For crying out loud, letting go of such a great player would make us the laughing stock. Maybe instead of removing Lampard, bloody Roman can remove Gourlay and Buck first. I'm sick of these idiots running our club in an autocratic manner. Lampard: Well done son, you were brilliant.
December 30, 201213 yr What does it say to our younger players now and potential others in the future when the club looks to discard a CLUB LEGEND like its a three day old curry. There is simply no loyalty and respect for a man who has given his all to the club and us during the most prolific spell Chelsea has seen. I was against showing animosity towards the club publicly with signing Rafa but not this... I would basically boycott and not buy a single thing from Chelsea as long as this owner is in place. Of course that means sh*t to a billionaire but its the thought and action that matters, not the money. I would seriously hope that people would do the same...
December 30, 201213 yr 6 goals for the season half way through. Bearing in mind he was injured for a lot of games, I see no reason why he can't get another 6 or 7
