If torres played like sturridge the other night there would of been plenty of newspaper articles and people on here queing up to have a pop! It's funny because the same people that are making excuses for sturridge are the ones who ridicule people that have sticked up for torres when he has had the odd bad game this season.

Alot of hypocrites on here!

That's a stupid statement Torres has been useless in plenty of games at least Danny looked lively, for 90 mins he was crap but as I've said in ET after he scored Danny was quality.

youre a stupid statement!

yes, torres was bad plenty of times, but never as bad as sturridge was. apart from the goal, which he scored against man utd youth side, he didnt do anything right

Lol how childish is that mate?

You're acting like Torres has never had a bad game, he's been anonymous at times which is worse. As for Danny apart from the goal? Guess you missed the back tracking winning the ball and the superb chip ball to Moses when he should've scored.

His comeback may have been childish but it did make me laugh.

thats because sturridge still has excuses - no regular time with the team.. except under AVB when he was our 2nd best player, played out of position 90% of the time, just back from injury, first game back

whereas torres has none left. he's been forced into this time and given every oppurtunity possibly available. excuses have ranged from play time, players behind him, players who start ahead of him, all sorts - but after 2 years he has no more excuses and still isnt deliverying

you act like people who speak out against torres are giving some grave injustice. once upon a time i gave him the benefit of the doubt aswell. but now hes' been given enough chances for me to know he will never be good enough again. maybe that time will come for sturridge, but until it does i will give him the benefit of doubt

But even when torres scores there is something wrong in your opinion! You come out with some bollocks like he wasn't making the right runs or he didn't look interested. Your allowed to praise him once in a while!

If Torres had put in the performance that Sturridge did on Wednesday night he would be praised for weeks months.

There would be a lot of the "Torres is back!" nonsense that is spouted every time he doesn't miss a sitter and/or trip over his own feet.

I'm sorry but thats complete bollocks.

I wouldn't mind betting that if Torres had put in the performance that Sturridge did on Wednesday there would have been a hell of a lot more made of when he collected a pin point cross field pass from Moses, was in a one on one situation with the keeper in a genuine goal scoring situation only to step on the ball, trip over and land flat on his arse in almost slap stick fashion as the ball rolled out for a goal kick.

The 'Torres is back' nonsense that you talk about is in your head I think pal, people may over praise him a bit at times but he also gets criticised more than any other when he f**ks up so I think it works both ways.

Either way after what was a pretty average performance from Sturridge on Wednesday night I can assure you there would not have been that kind of talk on here and he certainlywouldn't have been praised for 'months' as you put it as there was nothing to get too excited about.

I think you are getting yourself a bit carried away to be honest pal....

But our 2 options are sturridge and torres! The point the other guy was making is that torres is better at holding the ball up than sturridge.

Just play Moses or Marin and have a false 9....f**k Mata, Hazard and Oscar can score the goals...who needs Torres or Sturridge?

Torres is the perfect foil for the 3 behind him in my eyes. Playing a false 9 in my opinion is one of the worst ideas I have ever heard of unless that false 9 is messi.

Seem to work for Spain...and they don't have Messi...

Torres will score 1 goal, fall over at least twice, miss an easy chance, play some nice one-touch passes/through balls and give the ball away several times when trying to hold it up.

That's my prediction.

Torres will score today. I think both he and Sturridge have their uses, and differing qualities. We are fortunate to have them.

Whats he done to make you think that? One flick header

Not sure why he wasn't taken off today, would love to know the reason cause I certainly couldn't see what he was bringing to the team today. Obviously not to blame for us not winning but he didn't help matters either.

RDM bottled it in my view.

Edit: Bottled the decision as to whether or not to sub him that is, not the game.

He really looked out of it today and offered nothing going forward, I think Moses spent more time in the middle than Torres...mind you the entire team were sluggish and the weather towards the end didn't help matters...still say he will be gone in January or at the latest in the summer

It's all well and good saying "yeah, well he works hard", but at the end of the day he is proving to be a hindrance to the team, constantly looks disinterested and isn't helping us at all. If we had a half decent striker that can score i.e. Defoe/Hernandez, that sort of level, we would run away with this league.

When we weren't playing well in the past, you could rely on Didier, Eidur and even Kalou to get a goal out of nothing. Doesn't happen with Torres. Has to be put on a plate for him.

He works hard for the team. Whether he scores or not he at least looks like he's trying most of the time. And Sturridge gets into good positions.

Thats alright then, I would work bloody hard for the team & try my heart out for a fraction of his wages.

Neither have proven to be good enough, but tbf to Sturridge he doesn't get much of a chance, although he doesn't show enough when he does.

I would have subbed Torres today & played Danny in the centre for the last part of the game.
