There is surely no question anymore about us bringing in a striker in January if we can get one of sufficient quality. I think the only real question is whether we bring in one and keep Torres or bring in two and let Torres go at a massive financial loss.

I can't see that bringing in one and relegating Torres to the bench is going to improve Torres's game and so the other option would appear the more likely one.

Even the most ardent Torres backer must surely admit it is over now. He is nowhere near good enough for any team with genuine title ambitions and I just can't see how anyone can still believe he will ever get back to anything like his best. It is a transfer that sadly hasn't worked out and cutting losses is becoming more and more inevitable (and also the right thing to do).

I'd play him wednesday and if he dosn't improve dramatically then we have no choice but to stop playing him. I have a feeling wednesday night is a big night for the future of torres at this club! If he dosn't start scoring then it could be his last game for a while!

Based on speculation you are rating Torres at about £30m there! If it was a straight transfer I would be surprised if anyone was prepared to pay over £15m for him.

I was hoping that fact that he was an Athletico hero and boy-hood supporter and that they'd love to have him back, would add a bit to his value in such a deal.

In an ideal world - but look at the alternative (note, singular). Sturridge is better on the wing that as a lone striker. If he played alongside another attacker then maybe, but that doesn't suit our system. Oh, how I wish we'd signed Hulk / Hernandez / Falcao / Neymar / Lewandowski / ANY STRIKER. FROM ANY LEAGUE. ANYWHERE. Letting Lukaku go out on loan to West Brom made sense, but we left ourselves short of options in doing so. Not even a 30-something out-of-contract fading star bought in as backup! Di Matteo gambled on Torres and it doesn't seem to have paid off. He's had too many seasons to up his game and in the end he's just turned out to be another Shevchenko!

He won't score becuase he doesn't get into scoring positions he keeps running away from them or allow other players to take his position....I don't think Robbie can defend him too much longer...he just doesn't look interested or hungry like he did a few weeks ago...almost sulking...perhaps he missed Mata...my support for him is waning somewhat but because he is a CFC player he will have my support while he is here just like the other players....providing I am allowed to critize though!

Terrible player. It's like playing with 10 men at times.

TOrres + 25m for Falcao would be fine by me.

Why would Atletico take less money than Falcao is worth + a poor player with massive wages?

It makes no sense. Falcao is one of the very best players in world football. Why would you not get every penny you can? Why would Atletico ever entertain the idea of taking a player as bad as Torres as part-exchange?

No team in world football will go near Torres unless Chelsea are subsidising his wages. And not just some, all of it. He reportedly earns in the region of 170k p/w.

He's Shevchenko mk II but on more money and a longer contract. We're stuck with him and his wages for the next four years.

Starting to wear down now, I can't see a future with Torres as our striker. Not because he might not be up to it (Even though I don't think he is), its because there will constantly be a circus around us if Torres is the man up top.

I follow a page called chelsearumours on twitter, and he seems to share my views. It seems like its Torres FC at the moment and all that we do is constantly shadowed by how well Torres is playing.

I've been one of the Torres fan boys for long enough now, sadly Fernando I've had enough.

As much as I like the guy and his performance today wasn't as bad as people are making out (especially considering the tripe we endured from other players today) we need another striker. I'd ideally like him to stay though.

Sadly this year I don't think it is down to the media. They seemed to have layed off him some what but our own fans still havn't. It dosn't matter if we win people will still have a pop at torres. Today he deserves it so I won't defend him!

Look at his goals per game ratio this season and compare it to the first choice strikers of most of the top ten, or the top teams of other nations. He is not at the level required for a title contender. If he hasn't managed it this season with all the creative talent behind him, he never will. The pressure of living up to his £50m price tag has and always will be the reason.

To be fair you don't really have a clue with regards to the 'teams in world football' that apparently wouldn't go near Torres. In Europe maybe so but when you consider the rich Russian, Chinese & American clubs that would love to sign a big name player from the Premiership there could be takers, you are making assumptions and presenting them as facts without really knowing what you are talking about.

Oh and didn't we sign Torres 2 years ago on a 5 year deal? How are we stuck with him for another 4 years?
