December 9, 201312 yr In my opinion, he's not the answer as he still has some way to go in his development. We're still missing our very own RVP/Rooney/Aguero/Giroud. The type of striker who pulls a goal out of nowhere.
December 9, 201312 yr Still too raw to lead our lines. Potential to be a brilliant talent but I am starting to see sense in him going out on loan. Whilst it may not benefit our situation this season, next season he could be ready to become the player we want him to be. And still much better then anything we got aatm
December 9, 201312 yr lukaku has already publicly admitted he would like to stay at everton if they finish in the top four so nothing new here...he also keeps saying he wants to make it at Chelsea long-term...there is no way everton can afford to keep lukaku 'indefinitely'....even if Chelsea decide to sell, we're talking a transfer fee in excess of £20m now and they can't afford that
December 9, 201312 yr Lukaku seems a bit up himself to me (imo) so i cant see him wanting to stay at Everton myself. I think he thinks he should be playing at a bigger team. How ever i do not rate him as highly as some on here. People talk about Sturridges attitude but imo Lukaku has a bad attitude problem. We never heard a peep from Studge when on loan or when he played with us out of position, he got on with his work. I for one couldnt care less if Lukaku is sold in the summer. I think the boy thinks he is better than he actually is and this will cause him to not reach the level that he could get to if he was more humble. This is just my opinion.
December 9, 201312 yr Not that I necessarily, disagree, but what would him being more humble have to do with not reaching his potential? By all accounts he already puts in more work then any striker in the league, not sure what else he needs to do.
December 9, 201312 yr I like the fact Romelu has balls all the top strikers have that extra bit of fire attitude and personailty. You only need to see that video of him as a 15yr old to see he would like nothing better than leading the line at Chelsea. The downside is he maybe looks at the treatment of DeBruyne and maybe has doubts but in his mind he will think I can offer more to Chelsea than KDB. He is on loan at Everton of course he is talking up his loyalty to the them they pay his wages at the moment.

I think that he learned not keep his mouth shut from the whole Sturridge fiasco - maybe if Sturridge had made comments to the media earlier he wouldn't waste an year of his life on the bench watching other strikers under perform.
December 9, 201312 yr I've watched him play 3 games for Everton; Against Liverpool, United and Arsenal. The latter two he was very disappointing, looks like he has an attitude problem on the field which is most concerning, in addition to the fact he rarely got in a position to receive the ball, and if he did his touch would fail him or the defender would overpower him. I'm not sure it was such a terrible decision to send him out on loan. Edited December 9, 201312 yr by Jonty

December 9, 201312 yr Hey guys first off just want to say hi, don't tend to post on forums often more of a lurker, but with everything I've been hearing lately I felt the need to post something. As a life long chelsea fan it pains me to say that I live up here in scouseland. Met my partner five years ago (a scouser and a red ergh) and ended up moving here for work. Plus kept me in the big bed....anyways I have friends who work closely with the players at Everton and the talk going around at the moment is that Lukaku does not want to come back to chelsea and that he wants to stay with Everton indefinitely. I must stress this is coming from Individuals not the club themselves but this still concerns me greatly. Ok he isn't the finished product yet but already is showing why he deserved a chance to prove himself at Chelsea. I would hate to think that the club have yet again forced out a player of quality and in the process potentially strengthened another team in the league. Have we not learnt from the whole Sturridge fiasco. The problem is even for an individual who supports our great club such as Lukaku it must be incredibly frustrating and heart breaking when said club show such little interest in wanting to keep you. Two seasons on loan and a public falling out with The special one isn't going to instil any confidence. I hope the information is wrong and that he indeed comes back to us next season but I'm slowly beginning to worry that we could be losing undoubtedly one of the best yours talents around at the moment. Ps don't hold the living in bin dipper land against me, coming from Essex I truly believe it was the less of two evils. Return to your bridge Troll. The more I see Lukaku, the more I see that he just isn't go to flourish here. His passing is shocking. His first touch is shocking. His finishing is...awkward but he makes good runes and his positional sense is decent. He's strong, tall and fast. Too raw at the moment. Going out on loan was a good idea. How was anything he said, trolling? It's no different from what a lot of people have been saying on here. -- My big concern with Lukaku when I've seen him is that when his touch lets him down and he loses the ball, he doesn'#t seem to work hard to get ti back, he just throws his arms up in the air and doesn't try. Maybe I haven'#t seen him enough, but that'#s certainly what struck me in the Arsneal game.
December 9, 201312 yr Yeah, he barely makes an effort to chase the ball. In fact, Lukaku does very little defensive work when the other team is in possession. It may be what Martinez tells him to do, but I find it odd that he doesn't put himself about, unless Everton is on the attack.
December 9, 201312 yr It's fairly obvious that during big matches there are a few things Martinez instructs his players to do: 1) Full backs don't cross towards Lukaku in fear of loosing the ball and allowing big teams to counter attack(unless Baines is playing he is allowed to cross). 2) Lukaku plays the ball back into midfield with the back of the goal in cases where there is more than one defender on him. 3) Lukaku is allowed to try and beat defenders when there is only one player closing him down. Lukaku is basically used to get more space for other Attacking midfielders when they play against big clubs as opposed to the team being focused on creating chances for him. Yesterday and against United there were several instances of Lukaku playing the simple pass into Barkley or Pienaar when there were two players on his back while he tried to beat his man when they were one on one. Martinez has done a good job at Everton and they play possession based football with little risk when facing top clubs hence he is able to get better results than Moyes ever was. You also have to account the fact Lukaku is more closely marked than a player like Kone or Jelavic would be hence allowing more space for the attacking midfielders. I'd expect more from Lukaku after a few more months in the club in this big matches - since I believe he is still getting used to this tactical scheme because that's not how he was used at West Brom, In fact I feel this is how we would utilize him if he was at the club. Everton are starting to out play their top 4 rivals as they did in the first 40 minutes against Arsenal. Edited December 9, 201312 yr by Las7

December 9, 201312 yr It was when our strikers does exactly the same, except they dont score goals. Say what you want about Torres and his finishing/goal scoring, but no one can deny that he doesn't work hard for the team. He is constantly pressing opponents higher up the field and getting back to defend. Lukaku against Arsenal just sat up top waiting for service. He doesn't have exceptional pace. His first touch is often very poor and he can't really hold up the ball. His qualities are his pure strength and finishing. I'm sorry but i really don't think we would be that much better off with Lukaku in our team this year. As i said before, he is still VERY raw.

You do realize that Torres has lower passing success percentage than Lukaku ? Torres might pressing the opposition but for that we could just sign Holt or some other work horse like Welbeck and they won't be making 175k p/w in wages for working hard. Lukaku's job was obviously not to defend against Arsenal but rather just move the defenders around enough to expose areas for Everton's attacking midfielders which he did on several occasions including a good chance for Barkley in the second half. His pace is blistering - probably as fast as Torres was in his prime His first touch isn't very good but I've heard many times by people how many times Torres's first touch leads to a tackle - besides Lukaku's physical capabilities enable him to out muscle defenders and beat them via pace when his touch lets him down. When Torres's touch lets him down he just falls down expecting a foul.

Lukaku completely failed to do that against Arsenal, as we have seen countless times before. His pace is hardly blistering either, he is large and comparing his speed to Torres in his prime is ridiculous. I would wager that Torres would out sprint him even now. He did do a good job pulling defenders out of position but Torres does this exceptionally well too. Torres has two bad games this season, every other game he has been brilliant, especially against Man City and Tottenham (two very important fixtures). Hazard has had 4/5 games where he might as well of not showed up, but no one is blaming our seasons problems on him. Some people are just so quick to shoot Nando down. December 9, 201312 yr Playing with his back to goal is definitely the weakest part of his game, his touch when under pressure from a defender can be quite poor. Its a very important part of playing as a lone striker, something drogba was unbelievable at and gives a point for the midfielder to plauly off.
December 9, 201312 yr …………………….and gives a point for the midfielder to plauly off. Sounds quite rude.
December 9, 201312 yr Sounds quite rude.Don't act coy with me, you've had your point plauly'd before.

Firstly not a troll, and just because I don't post often does not automatically make me one. Secondly I am not a dude Thirdly I am just airing my concerns as I am a fan of Lukaku. I want to see him succeed at our club and not end up being pushed away like numerous others. I was just relaying what I had been told from someone who works within the training ground at Everton. Do I have direct quotes from Lukaku himself? No! Maybe I have over reacted to this piece of news. Now I remember why I don't post...people jump down ur throat jeez. Rant over love to all :) Edited December 9, 201312 yr by SnookyCFC
December 10, 201312 yr First of all Lukaku is no lone striker , he's at his best in a free roll around or with another striker . His build makes people saying he's a lone striker , his abilities say no he isn't. The everton game showed this , after Deulofeu came in Lukaku was good , before he ran after an impossible ball (same at WBA together with Long dangerous )

December 11, 201312 yr Rimelu Lukaku is our new Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. A striker whose quick and strong who offers little in build up play and defence but is excellent at exploiting space
