Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

Wait, what?

Did you just suggest due to selling Lukaku we won't win any trophies?

I'll bet you we win more this season than Lukaku will in his entire Everton career.

I will bet that we win nothing this season (although I'm excluding the Carling Cup). 100 quid to the Shed End? And no I was just taking that comment in isolation; it's not directly related to Lukaku.

Another thread to avoid for however long the players career lasts.

Yeah, it's always puzzled me the way some football fans behave like jealous ex-boy/girlfriends when a player leaves their club. Things can get pretty messy...

Anyway, I guess it's inevitable now and that's disappointing because Lukaku is an exciting player to watch and I was looking forward to seeing him up front for us. While he's already a very good striker and could well go on to develop into a great one, his talent is hardly irreplacable.

The worst thing for me is I suspect this means that we have been unable to find a taker for Torres and will enter next season with Costa as first choice CF and Torres/Drogba as backups. That's still better than last season though so shouldn't grumble I suppose.

And shockingly enough, we learn nothing from the Sturridge debacle. Who's surprised? Hands in the air.

That should have been pretty clear last summer

NON HOMEGROWN PLAYERS = 20.

CAP = 17.

20 - 17 = 3

So who goes? Marin is surely off on loan.. has to go. Personally I think either Cech or courtois will be off too. If we are then prepared to sell Mikel (by all accounts we cant give him away), or basically force another player out by making them play with the under 21s - then that is the stage at which we can buy another striker.

I think we are all in agreement that going into a season with Costa, Torres and Drogba leaves us one injury to Costa away from being in serious trouble.

I cannot for the life of me imagine why the f**k we would be happy to risk going into this season with Torres as our main backup option should something happen to costa (suspensions are also extremely likely as he is a nutter).

I honestly think that if this is the case, then this situation could truly be the un-doing of Mourinho. No f**king excuses this season - he's set himself up by saying the team is well balanced and this and that but in truth we are relying HUGELY on costa 1) being a success and 2) remaining injury / suspension free for an entire season.

Nowhere to hide jose.

Might have been covered, but if we lose Lukaku what does that do to our HG status?

It doesn't really change much. We still need  to get rid of 3 non homegrown players before we sign anyone else.

Nothing because he would have been counted as an u21 this season, not homegrown. It does mean we have to sell a few squad players, including torres to strengthen up front.

Unless we replace him with another under 21, or homegrown player.

I can't see everton finishing second in the league in the next 10 years. Liverpool were a dangerous club to sell to, as they always have money to spend. Not too mention we only got 12.5 for Sturridge when he was worth double.

I know it's not the complete same situation but it still fills me with the same concerns. Everton are a dangerous side who have some very good player and a cracking manager too.

I'm more concerned about the head to heads against them and Lukaku no doubt out to prove a point. Ideally we wouldn't face this problem by selling abroad like Luiz and De Bruyne.

can we close the thread now ?

he cost 11 million plus add ons, no add ons to pay back now, at least 10 million pounds profit

good bit of business

lets get dramatic when the situation merits it, I for one am looking forward to the prem

with Costa and Fabergas

His cryptic Instagram pick is pathetic he needs to grow up the petulant mug. If 'Start a new chapter ... Means Everton, well it's hardly new - the prick was there last season!

Well this looks like happening now doesn't it. Have to say im massively disappointed because he seemed very passionate about playing for us when he first signed and genuinely looked like he could turn out to be the real deal. The fact of the matter is, he's 21 and it would be a huge risk to give a 21 year old the responsibility of leading the line for a team challenging trophies, yet a free stab at being no.1 seems to be what he desires. If he had an extra year on his contract, there's no way we are selling him this summer, its as simple as that.

Makes more sense that he means Chelsea

Ok so lets just go straight football manager on this.

Sign Pogba and for Rambo + cash.

Send out Marin.

Sell Mikel.

Sell Torres + cash to Monaco for Falcao.

HG status fixed, striker depth fixed?

FFS hes still a Chelsea player

I don't really get why everyone is slagging off Lukaku, he signed for a club that he was really excited to sign for when we bought him, thought he was set at his dream club for years to come.  Realised that he wasn't ready to be part of the first team and went out on loan, proved himself on loan over the course of two seasons.  Has heard nothing from the club saying that they trust in him, want him or are willing to give him a fair crack of the whip - despite our lack of striking options.  He feels let down (rightly so) and is now excited to be moving on to play somewhere he'll be appreciated.

Good luck to the kid.

Just emailed a colleague who's an Everton ST holder who said "I’d rather you kept him.  He can be quite lazy, asking for the ball to be put at his feet rather than running into space, then if the ball isn’t passed to him, he has a tantrum. "

Sort've confirmed what I was thinking!

1 problem though, this is never going to happen.

Lukaku: "My aim is to be the biggest tw*t possible"

Good riddance. He's gone and i'm glad he is.

How do you know the club hasn't told him in private that they trust him?

He along with Courtois and Hazard were supposed to report back to training today since they played in the World Cup. Could be a pic of him flying to London to be honest, but probably unlikely
