July 30, 201411 yr £23.7m according to the BBC I bet if we were signing him they'd quote rising to 30!!!!!!!!
July 30, 201411 yr As much of a mouthy git he is, I don't see what more he could have done to prove himself in the last 2 years. He went on loan twice and outscored all our strikers twice, and yet from the moment we signed him we've shown no signs of actually being interested in using him.
July 30, 201411 yr Yes sill very much in place. The rule used to be rigid in that the fee had to be paid over a very short period but its now up to a maximum of the length of the contract.
July 30, 201411 yr Has anyone remembered how was Drogba in his 1st spell?. But look how eventually he improved. Lukaku needed confidence and if doesn't play then he doesn't get one. This is like repeat of last year. Signed old player Eto'o and loaned Lukaku, kept useless Torres in the team. *sigh* Spot on just and this is why Im annoyed. If we bring in another back up striker and manage to offload Torres I wont sweat it, but that doesnt look like happening
July 30, 201411 yr For all we know Romelu was demanding a place in the first squad and moved somewhere where he can get it. If we did sell him without him forcing a move then either we're bringing in someone else or we don't seem to learn from our mistakes. Edited July 30, 201411 yr by DannyD

Perhaps part of it is the fact that if we used him then we'd have to pay extra fees to anderlecht as the deal was, by all accounts, "rising to £18 million" Perhaps seen as a risk to take for a player that is (or was) unproven at the very top level? Only thing I can think of
July 30, 201411 yr ‘Why Romelu Lukaku is being sold by Chelsea and why that's the right decision’... http://thepremierleagueowl.com/why-romelu-lukaku-is-being-sold-by-chelsea/
July 30, 201411 yr Poor management there. Why even think of replacing? He is ready to be started in 1st team. The replacement may take another year or two to get ready ! It's Mourinho's complaining about lack of options, immediately followed by Lukaku being sold, which I find the most surprising and downright bizarre. Jose's taking a MASSIVE risk this season if we go into it with our existing 3. Genuinely think that if Lukaku goes on to score a barrel load at Everton and if we struggle up front at times during this coming season then it may well end up being bye-bye Jose. f**king appalling decision if there is no plan to replace him. absolutely appalling.
July 30, 201411 yr £15m profit, give or take a million Still would have preferred to see us play hardball for once and demand 30m. How much would a team like Everton want from us if we went in for their top scorer last season?! 40? 45?
July 30, 201411 yr Any rumours on what strikers we are in for? We're flush with strikers mate! Torres, Drogba and Costa! What more could we want? Oh wait...
July 30, 201411 yr Boo! Boo that man. Seriously pissed off that he doesn't want to stay and fight. Give up when the going gets tough - weak!
July 30, 201411 yr Izzy Brown just wished him good luck at Everton and Lukaku retweeted Collymore wishing him good luck so yeah he's gone.
July 30, 201411 yr Any rumours on what strikers we are in for? None, Torres will come good...................
July 30, 201411 yr Mix of relief that this drama will be coming to an end and annoyance that he never had a real chance (for whatever reason) I'll take comfort in the fact that at least part of this will be his own doing. Some players just prefer being a big fish in a small pond (no disrespect to the toffees)

All mourinhos fault, or is our hand being forced because he doesn't want to be here and this is the best outcome ahead of letting him go for free when his contract runs out.
July 30, 201411 yr Mix of relief that this drama will be coming to an end and annoyance that he never had a real chance (for whatever reason) How do you give a chance to someone who wants to leave??
July 30, 201411 yr Cherish the thought of what could have been. Now, another young and talented player is gone. KDB, Mata, Luiz, Lukaku all gone. Who is next? In Jose we trust. Sage, It's perish the thought not cherish the thought. Perish the thought i could be so pedantic.
July 30, 201411 yr £23.7m according to the BBC Which funnily enough equates to exactly 30 million euros.
July 30, 201411 yr I think Lukaku could have overcome it. Ba was going on loan last season until the last minute, that would have left us with Eto'o, Torres and Lukaku. Lukaku would have had plenty of game time and he could have proven himself. Instead he wanted to go out on loan instead of proving a point to the manager. Also, it's not that we are not prepared to move Torres on, it's just that we can't, his wages are stopping us from doing that. I personally believe that Lukaku had made the decision to leave before Drogba had arrived, and i don't believe we would have re-signed Drogba THIS season if Lukaku was going to stay. As soon as Diego Costa signed i think Lukaku wanted out, he won't fight to be the number 1 striker. I would sympathise with him if he would at least try a season here but he hasn't even done that, he wants to be number 1 right now. That's a heck of a lot of assumptions. Also him going out on loan was him proving himself/fighting for a spot so I don't know what you mean there.
