That's the best part of £90 million spent on the wings since Jose came in and I don't think any of them have really justified their price so far.

What exactly are you talking about? Because Isco is very good at defending. Maybe he doesnt run as much as socar, but he pulls his weight in defence

I believe I've answered that in the same post, Launcher, Will Isco make the team as defensively and positionally stable as Oscar does, or a player who naturally plays deeper would, because it seems to me of late Oscar had been used a lot more as a central midfielder than an attacker.

The russian commentator said this as well, actual words to the effect of "Poor oscar, completely open and no one passes to him" although directly translated it was no one wants him

Anyway, on a serious note, I did notice this a few times.  That Oscar was literally in the middle of the pitch waving frantically for someone to pass to him and we either ran it down the channels, or passed it back to Terry/Cahill

For those wantinig the likes of Cortinio and Isco (both great great players) I'm not sure it would really work  out in our team. Lets be honest, Hazard is the least effective defensive player in our team, he has improved immeshurably in the last year but his tackling is piss poor. People go round him pretty easily, But his talent is so  great that Jose can afford to have him there again, he works his socks of now, just technique is a little meh. I don't think Cortinio or Isco are going to so the same covering our other players, do. Could be wrong

anyway, coutinho is a non factor when defending true but i feel just assume isco is as well just because hes a natural nr 10.

 

im a great admirer of isco. look at the players he has to compete against at RM. instead of mouthing off like lukaku (and btw isco shts over lukaku when it comes to talent) he just kept quiet, and when given the opportunity he did his best at both ends of the pitch.

I didn't think he was particularly bad against West Ham, but he definitely didn't really have an impact on the game, that's something we don't really get with Oscar, doesn't really take matters into his own hands, never really has a strong influence.

 

He's not that player who you expect to make things happen every game, he really isn't, that being said he still has talent, but he really does need to improve definitely, I don't think he's efficient enough. Not seen enough of evidence to suggest another drop of form as some were saying but he certainly hasn't made any major impact since the Swansea game.

I'm not even sure Jose knows. If I could, I'd replace him with Max Meyer or Pogba.

I'd give Oscar one more season. The other two can leave for all I care.

He's had two seasons where he's started well and been a match winner on a number of occasions. There's something there and it's about whether or not he can develop it. That's why I'd stick with him.

Willian and Ramires are both who they are though and aren't going to change.

We get half a season from Oscar, Willian and Fabregas. So we just need to sign three players for the other half.

 

Ramires isn't worth bothering with. Especially as we let go of Schurrle and De Bruyne who are much more talented.

Nope, it wouldn't be kneejerk at all. But i would keep Oscar, he has talent, he's just only showing that talent in the early stages of the season. Hopefully as he get's older he will develop to be a more consistent player. Ramires and Willian will never be at the level we need them to be though.

At the moment I'd rather have coutinho. However, we have to take into consideration how much José wants the players to work. I don't know if it's ideal for Oscar's abilities. He is a player that most likely prefers to play open and freely, instead of having to track back every second. Put messi in this team and I'm sure his form would drop as well.

And you have to question his record in big games...how many times has he made a difference? That juve performance raised the level of expectancy way beyond his abilities it seems...it's not just for us too...look at him at the World Cup...one good game, the first one, and that was it

Agreed.

Most of us put down his poor form because of his amount of games with us and Brazil but this season he has been the most rested and rotated players in our first 11 and looks just as poor as he did back then.

As a squad player yes he's useful but as a starting role in the centre of our attaking play he's very poor. We can't afford to have the vocal point of our team to pack it in halfway through a season when we are fighting on all fronts.

We can't afford to carry him year after year when his new year form plummits, we really do need a top quality alternative to at least try and make him play out of his slump.

Better stats than I thought, but his high position in the top two will be from when everything was all going fine and dandy with the team...what's more telling is what you do when team is going through ropey patch and he just goes missing
