March 4, 201511 yr Third season here... same story. One strong month, some goals and then... garbage. He doesn't score many goals, he doesn't make any assist and key passes(please, remind me some good pass recently) and his biggest ability - helping in defense - is also gone. What is he doing here? What is his aim? To do what? If somebody offer me with 15+ millions, I would sell him immediately.
March 4, 201511 yr This is always the issue for me. Who out there is doing better? I know there's plenty of people who have a hard on for Pogba but you're talking about a possible British record transfer fee when Cesc has been very good for us alongside Matic. I would have replaced him with Isco if it was possible, but that deal wouldn't happen in the summer. Maybe after next season with Oscar not improving and Isco continuing to struggle for gametime at Real Madrid. I think Isco can play both counterattacking and possesion football because of his speed, passing and vision. Pogba is also a possible, but unlikely when the price is so high.

If you want a reminder of a good pass then how about the one through to Costa today which he skied over the bar? Even if you ignore those facts, £15 million is woefully undervaluing him and doesn't come close to helping us replace him.

I'd take isco all day long, but he seems to be more involved this season at madrid. Oscar is becoming a bit frustrating, but I do think when he gets dropped for the big games it affects his confidence. I don't think he has started a big game since spurs away? He played most of the big games early on and did well.

I know he has been given plenty of game time but you never know.
March 4, 201511 yr That was a very easy ball. I would get mad if he didn't do it. He was open, he had a time to prepare and nobody was trying to stop him. Ok, 15 millions would be ridiculous offer but could you explain me what he's doing here? Tell me some key goal or assist. In a big, big moment? Because his stats is made in August and September and since there... nothing. One good game against Swansey... it's not enough for me to play number 10. To play this number you should have some creativity. You should be an important figure in the squad. You should have some influence... and what about him? Like box-to-box player, I wouldn't sell him, but like number 10... you understood me. Edited March 4, 201511 yr by Pendergast
March 4, 201511 yr Isco would be absolutely fantastic. And i feel RM might just let him go He's having a decent season - almost as many goals and assists as Oscar has. That was a very easy ball. I would get mad if he didn't do it. He was open, he had a time to prepare and nobody was trying to stop him. Ok, 15 millions would be ridiculous offer but could you explain me what he's doing here? He's in a bad run of form but he's had good games and got some important goals, most notably Swansea, Newcastle And Palace away. But we don't play him like a normal 10, we afford a lot of freedom and creative responsibility to Fabregas and Hazard so he needs to chip in defensively. He's been a match winner for us on more than one occasion but he does need to improve. For context he's about the same age as Coquelin or Mason and on course to score more goals than Lamps did at the same age.
March 4, 201511 yr Wouldn't want him to leave. You can't doubt the talent is there. I think if b he was allowed his more natural role, we'd be seeing him scoring a lot more and being a real attacking threat. He's just not around those danger zones enough.
March 4, 201511 yr Playing the role Jose wants I don't think he'll ever get that kind of freedom. Mata was scoring and assisting for fun before Jose came back, and immediately he wanted him to focus on tracking back all the time, and he struggled to have any real impact as a result when he did play.
March 4, 201511 yr You know I wouldn't want him to leave but with Jose's comments about gaining funds through sales I actually have a feeling he might go in the Summer. Before anyone jumps on me its just a feeling I have.
March 5, 201511 yr Mata was scoring and assisting for fun before Jose came back, and immediately he wanted him to focus on tracking back all the time, and he struggled to have any real impact as a result when he did play. José expects more of an all-round contribution from his players. No doubt Mata is capable of creative genius, but his defensive contribution is simply not good enough for a team which presses and defends as a unit. I think he has been vindicated considering the vast improvement in performances we've seen over the course of the past year and a half - the individual might suffer but the team is far, far better. Mata is obviously the more effective creator, Oscar is the better all-round player and we as a team are better with Oscar than Mata.
March 5, 201511 yr He was in a number of open positions today, just looked a little off the pace, but he doesn't seem to have featured as much recently. Back to his positioning, though; the lad was open a number of times in the middle of the pitch and yet no one passed to him. Lots of times when he was offering a pass into space, Eden would take it down the lines and take on defenders. He's still a fantastic and valuable player.
March 5, 201511 yr Letting him go would be easy, where do you find a better replacement? If we let everyone go after 3-4 poor games, we won't have many left playing.

March 5, 201511 yr This is the problem with names being thrown into the picture like Isco. Could Isco do what Mourinho asks Oscar to do. I think if Oscar does go (very much hope he doesn't), a more natural central midfielder will probably be his replacement. Modric? Pogba? I do retain belief that now Matic is back and the midfield of Matic, Fabregas and Oscar returns, Oscar will up his game again somewhat. That original first eleven with those three in there was on fire before the Christmas period and the Spurs game. Now that Matic, Fabregas and Oscar have had a bit of time out each for one reason or another, they should be recharged and ready to get back to something like that earlier form. March 5, 201511 yr This is the problem with names being thrown into the picture like Isco. Could Isco do what Mourinho asks Oscar to do. What exactly are you talking about? Because Isco is very good at defending. Maybe he doesnt run as much as socar, but he pulls his weight in defence

The russian commentator said this as well, actual words to the effect of "Poor oscar, completely open and no one passes to him" although directly translated it was no one wants him
March 5, 201511 yr Btw all this replacement talk is crap. We should be supplementing not replacing. Squad is small enough as it is now but everyone wants to sell everyone even though our entire squad is knackered.

March 5, 201511 yr For those wantinig the likes of Cortinio and Isco (both great great players) I'm not sure it would really work out in our team. Lets be honest, Hazard is the least effective defensive player in our team, he has improved immeshurably in the last year but his tackling is piss poor. People go round him pretty easily, But his talent is so great that Jose can afford to have him there again, he works his socks of now, just technique is a little meh. I don't think Cortinio or Isco are going to so the same covering our other players, do. Could be wrong

I think isco is the better player, despite being a couple of years younger. I'd take oscar over coutinho though. I don't think we should sell oscar, but I don't think there's any harm in looking to improve, and unless he picks it up again, oscar's position in the starting 11 is an area we could improve in. I wouldn't be against playing hazard in the 10 and bringing in a top left winger.
