Eden Hazard - Chelsea Legend

Featured Replies

Not really when it comes to jt

taking the captain's armband away from him would be just disrespectful

No it isn't, he knows that he is MR Chelsea to us fans, it was us that made our voices heard when he wasn't offered an extension, but we have to think of tomorrow and put the club first. If he loves the club he will want the new captain to be given his help.

Captain is more than an armband.

Well that sort of backs what I'm saying, he can still be a massive influence off and on the pitch, he doesn't need an armband to do that. But to give the armband to a player like Hazard could be a very wise move.

Wonder how many games for this season Hazard will be play like he did last night haha

Yeah hopefully more than just the one.

Last night was great but it was one game against a pretty average opponent. It doesn't merit a change of captaincy based on one game.

We know what he can do so he simply has to give more performances like last nights especially if he wants to be considered one of the best players in the world.

I do get your point but I'd keep JT as club captain regardless.

I don't think Hazard is captain material tbh but would love to be proven wrong.

too many times last season he was just happy to play the simple pass and let others do the work.

Eden was not happy, Icecoolguy22.

Unhappy!

After seeing that performance, I've become more bemused and baffled as to what happened to him last season.

Was it all mental? Was he carrying an injury that no one was aware of?

A not so good team.

The Eva story.

The Mourinho saga.

To be fair Hungary's defense wasn't up to par. He was given a lot of space but on the other hand he was so smooth and confident.

I'd say against a regular (for Chelsea) opponent like Crystal Palace he'd find it more difficult to operate than yesterday.

Concerning for me is how he is not very eager to penetrate to oppo box. Yesterday he made some runs there but in general he has all the skills to go past the defender and make some dangerous shots or get a penalty.

He is not exactly trying to do what Ronaldo or Messi are doing. If he wants to get there he needs to be more eager to finish.

Rubbish.

He created that space.

Any Chelsea fan that still wants Hazard sold after watching him last night must be seriously mad! £100m would not be enough when he is in that kind of form.

Lets forget last season. The whole squad and management were pony. Can't believe that some folk are still trying to suggest that Hazard under-performed on purpose and it wasn't due to injuries etc. When Hazard plays like he did last night and especially in the second half, as the co-commentator rightly pointed out - he was on another level to everyone else. We don't have a player who comes close to reaching that level and it is imperative that we keep him and the new coach gets him playing like that. I wouldn't make him captain but he is our most important player.

Maybe it's time for another team, Nibs!

Partly true. Hungary was all over the place.

Not agreed.

The only difference was that they didn't attacked his knees (like in the Premier League last season).

Hungary was fair (My respect!).

And Eden was amazing!

Let us all hope that he gets back to his form of 2014/15.

Last night was a reminder of what he can do and how well he can play.

i'd rather see him at his 2012/13 form, that's when he played with freedom. If he stayed playing with that freedom with the skill set he has now he's be unstoppable.

This goal always stands out to me, when do we ever see him even trying this kind of thing anymore:

Or holding up the play and runs like this:

If he was captain, would it afford him slightly more protection and respect from the officials ? He certainly gets little at present in the Premiership.

Amazing, wish we had a player like that last season.  Probably would of made top 4 easily after Mourinho left if we had a player of that caliber last season.

Seeing him play amazingly for Belgium gives me little to no confidence for how he might play for Chelsea next season.  I dont think anyone question Hazard's ability last season, just how he applies it.  I question not that he can play  like this, but rather question why he has had more top moments/performances in 3 games for Belgium than he did in a season for Chelsea.

But ya, chuffed for Belgium, I'd pay that player 10mil a year..... lets just hope he decides to put out those same performances when he puts on the shirt of the shirt that actually pays him that much,

PS.  Noticed the Euro refs dont really give him anymore protection than BPL refs.  Glad Hazard finally found a way to fight through it.  Hope he doesn't forget over the summer, it can be a tricky period.

It could also be a disaster to not only reward, but also hand leadership to a player who took a season off and then impressed when he was playing for another organization.  Im more a fan of giving it to a player who deserves it rather than use it as a tool to try and fix a player.

Sadly that's spot on.

You seriously believe Hazard 'took a season off' rather than he just struggled to come back from the hip injury ?

Reports that James has one foot out the door at Madrid and Zidane has always been a fan of Eden. Will they come in for him following his good form at the Euros? (provided he keeps it up, obviously)
