For me he didn't do much today, except the fantastic run and assistance in the third goal.

He had a half decent game, but gave the appearance he wasn't putting in a shift, seemed to look pretty flat at times...

 

I think the problem is that he way to often is happy to just pass the ball and hang back, instead of making the run forward to give his teammates more space and options. With that said I still think he is a level or two above the other Belgium players so far in this tournament.

Granted his assist was fabulous, but to me he just seemed to always slow play to walking pace, i will never knock his talent, but he should be stamping his undoubted authority allover these Euros!!

Conte needs to find Hazards on/off switch and get it jammed in the on position.

Him slowing the game down on the wings is the thing holding him back from being one of the very best. Surely the coaches he has played under have advised him to stop doing this and just run at players. He seem's worried about losing the ball. I would rather he lose the ball every so often than watch him stop, slow the game down and then pass the ball back 5 yards. He would beat his full back's a lot more than he would lose it if he just kept at it. Even players who are nowhere near his level seem to take players on more than him.

 

It's such a shame that this has become such a big part of his game, it's the biggest reason why he isn't one of the very best right now.

Slowing down on the wing was a good part of his game when he made the defender stop to a standstill only to move the ball past him but now more often than not he chooses not to take him on if he feels it's too risky.

That hindering fear of losing the ball was drilled into his head by Jose, hopefully Conte manages to wash it all out and give him a free role.

I understand what you're saying but if Conte wants to play a 3-5-2 then wouldn't it be better to play him centrally behind the 2 strikers? He's got great close control and a nice burst of acceleration so maybe it would be best for him. Just an idea.

That is how I feel as well. However 'Conte' and 'free' doesn't sound a combo we hear a lot. Unless he snatches a player for free.

Hazard is playing a free role for Belgium right now and I'm about as impressed with it as I am when he plays solely on the left.  The main thing he needs is a mental makeover.  The guy dribbles past people with ease but you only see it about once or twice a game...when it should be more like 5 or 6 times a game.  He too regularly wants to slow down as others have stated, when he is the one player I would argue needs to speed up a bit.  I'm looking forward to seeing how he plays in Conte's system next year.

For me Hazard deserved MoM, KDB haven't really produced much compared to all the times he has lost the ball. I wish that Hazard was more selfish like KDB and Lukaku at times though.
