Eden Hazard - Chelsea Legend

Featured Replies

Certainly he looked more lively playing alongside Traore last night so may have a good point. Perhaps it could be argued that Traore is a more willing runner than Diego. Traore has the potential to be quality false 9 imo (if he isn't already).

Theres hardly a more willing runner in the prem then Costa. Thats literally one of his best attributes

I don't quite get your reply.

It's not a reward.

Plenty have said that the captaincy is not as important a job as it used to be in the past. I tend to agree with that.

If we can get the best football out of a player (who was probably the 3rd best player on the planet last year) by giving him the arm band, then why would it be embarrassing ?

Because he isn't captain material in my eyes.

Maybe it's not important to some people but a captain for me needs to be a leader, someone who strives to get his team playing as well as they can and one who will command respect from his teammates.

That's not Hazard and certainly not the Hazard we have seen this season.

IF he get's his head down next season and does well then maybe it can be revisited but for now not a chance IMO.

Funny how fickle fans can be.

Go back to when Jose was sacked and you have people calling him a rat along with Costa and Cesc. He gets injured but people fAll into the media trap of him wanting out.

A return to good form and people suddenly realise how good he is. If we sell him without a world class replacement then we are really fecked

Agreed. But I'm not going to change my mind about the turgid sh*t he offered for 95% of the season because he put out a few good performances at the very end of the season when there was nothing left to play for from a CFC perspective....but perhaps a lot to play for if considering personal objectives.

Some of us never questioned how good he can be when he wants to. That's why certain non-fickle people still don't want the team built around a player who can just dissappear for a whole season if things aren't going all their way.

Would we be fecked if Hazard was sold? Depends on who replaces him but possibly yes. I just don't think we'd be as f**ked as we were this season with him as our main player, the one the team was formed around..

He was at his best yesterday. That is how we won the league.

And with the best defence in the league, the top assist provider who at times looked like they would shatter the BPL record, one of the best goal scorers in the league, a holding mid who for periods of the season looked the best in Europe and other high end talents giving it their all.

I just find that some people forget the above when talking about how Hazard won us the BPL. Not anywhere near the one man show many here would like to portray it as.

POTY says he did stand out from the others, so you could say he contributed the most, show me one person who said Hazard was 'a one man show', just making it up again Barry are we ?

Awww. I love your optimism and the sheer joy. Was it hard for you to witness Haz ripping Liverpool apart?

That just isn't true, the team has NEVER been 'formed' around him..   Maybe if it was ?????

One thing we will need if he stays, a couple of players who can take free kicks, besides Willian we got no real threat, if we had more options we would have plenty more goals from all the free kicks Hazard gets us.

It sort of was, the whole reason azpilacueta was moved to left back was to give defensive solidty behind hazard to allow him to do his stuff going forward.

I think stating forming a team around Hazard is overstating the mark a little bit. I thought the team had an aging but solid foundation, with a group of attacking threats that individually could carry a team or combined could provide a number of different threats.

A big bruising centre forward that could lead the line, hold up play and create and score goals. A mazy dribbling winger with good feet, explosive pace and a clinical finish. A pacy brazilian wide player that has bundles of energy to work up and down, links up play and is good from dead balls. An attacking midfielder that can unlock defences, is calm in possession with a cultured array of passes and can finish.

All of these players were here forming part of the attacking unit. Hazard stepped out of the group and excelled from the platform that we had.

Sadly most of the aforementioned have since been cr@p this season.

I hope to God the Lazarus like resurrection of Hazard towards the end of this season hasn't been because the shop window beckons, because from what i have seen again recently if Hazard decided to stay with us next season i would happily struggle off of the high horse i have been sat on and i would willingly gobble up the humble pie i would have to eat because regardless of some the shameful curses i have frustratingly called this lad during this season i would dearly love to see the Real Eden Hazard give us another season in the Chelsea colours.

Between Cesc and Willian i think we got that covered....

The whole team has disappeared this year, not just Hazard. I think you seem to forget that. Hazard gets mentioned more than the rest because we rely on him more than anyone else in the squad. Terry was pretty dog sh*t at the start of the season but i've not seen a single person moan about him. If this is the kind of season we had without Hazard playing at top form imagine what we'd be like if he was sold. Willian and Pedro running aimlessly up the wings and Oscar doing very little in the middle? No thank you.

I think Dave at left back has, in a way, hindered Hazard more than benefited him. Yes there is a defensive rock behind him who gives Hazard a completely free license but Dave for all his defensive solidarity isn't a natural left back who can overlap the winger.

Hazard has long been pointed out as the threat and gets double marked by having, say, Baba push on outside gives Hazard that little more space to do his devastating thing.

It's why I was gutted that Luis left as I firmly believed that he had the best all round attacking and defending game to bring the best out of Hazard

Well it depends how you play.

Azpilicueta at left back was initially an accident (I don't think when he was first put there it was with the long term in mind), but it does suit hazard in one sense (although I take the point that an overlapping player would help him) and more importantly I think it helps jt to have a player narrow next to him. It massively reduces the amount of running he needs to do and it reduces him having to deal with balls into the channels.

Jose built a first 11 that was really finely balanced - it will be interesting to see what content does to change how we play. I expect more emphasis on the construction of the game from the back, but he'll need to find new solutions to protect jt and fabregas etc

It sort of was, the whole reason azpilacueta was moved to left back was to give defensive solidty behind hazard to allow him to do his stuff going forward.

For me problems at the back were the reason Dave was moved to his 'proper' position, very little, if anything to do with forming the team around Hazard.

I think we'll agree to disagree on that dkw.
