Branislav Ivanovic - Your Views?

I think he'd do well where Dave is playing, on the right of the back 3. He;s just not suited to fullback any more.

Would be nice for ivan to get some time in barca!

He's offered his everything to chelsea and we love him but it's time to move on,and that's not a bad thing

Arguable the world's best club team chase three 30+ players who are noticeably in decline to finally cement their spot on the world stage.

Is chelsea chasing 3 30+ year olds?

Question is, will Barca take him?

His lack of pace is a real problem in a back 3.

At a team like West Brom he would do well. He may have lost pace but he's still potent in the air and so would still be formidable in a deeper defensive line.

I still think he will be a good squad player and a cup player to have. I have been tired of his dire crosses and him running back. With moses there, he can be a sub for azpi or maybe even for moses if the occasion arises..

For this season, but do we need him for the next?

Iva cant replace Moses. Moses provides a GREAT attacking threat as a RWB. The closest we can come to that would be by playing Kenedy as LWB and Azpi as RB to again provide the right balance (since Kenedy has shown to be a decent LB).

For next season, I hope we have these defensive player for the 5 positions:

LWB: Alonso, Kenedy

LCB: Andreas, Ake

CCB: Luiz, Cahill

RCB: Azpi, Zouma

RWB: Moses, Aina

For Midfield: I would want Kante, Matic, Kondogbia, Chalobah

Forwards: Pedro, Costa, Hazard, Traore, Batshuayi, Willian,Musonda

Barcelona have contacted Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic over a move to Camp Nou in January, according to reports in Spain.

The Spanish champions are in the market for a new right-back as they are planning to offload Aleix Vidal, who is valued at £10 million.

Cadena SER claims that Ivanovic has been approached by Barcelona to find out his availability, and the club believe that a deal could be possible since he is currently out of favour at Stamford Bridge.

Barca are also keen on Ivanovic due to his ability to play at right-back and as a central defender

The only stumbling block in a potential deal for the 32-year-old is his high salary.

if you think old ivanovic's bad, old-rusty ivanovic is a double whammy, one time yesterday when nkudou got past him instead of trying to get back in front of him he just stand there with his hands up like saying "i yield" i mean the heck???

i don't understand why conte didn't sub him to cb and move dave to the right

absolute chelsea legend but january can't come soon enough

no, he's not.. the wide players of a back 3 require pace to function well which he doesn't have it.. zouma is more suited

He has been a fantastic servant to Chelsea and deserves nothing but respect for what he has given us. But IMO he shouldn't be getting anywhere near the first team or the bench now. Keep making that substitution with 10-15 minutes remaining it will cost us at some point.

Ivanovic is and always will be a chelsea legend, but I cringed when he came on today. Is it Conte just trying to keep the dressing room happy as he knows Ivanovic is one of the old guard? Conte doesn't strike me as the sort to placate. But that's the only rationale I can understand for Ivanovic coming on at that point.

At CB in this system you have to play both CB and RB at times, he's bad enough these days playing RB in a flat back four, I dread to think what he will be like when we get exposed as a 3.

The reason is Victor needs to come off at that stage, our system relies on the wingbacks being two players, of course whether it was right to bring Ivan on is a totally different argument, but that's why it happens.

As for placating the dressing room, as long as we're winning he can do what the hell he likes.

In fairness, he's the manager. Even if we weren't winning he can do what the hell he likes. That doesn't mean its the right decision, it just means we didn't get punished for it.

I don't think any of us at the Bridge yesterday understood why Ivanovic came on, and why he is played as a wing back, he hasn't got the pace to play as CB let alone at the wing. But maybe Conte is seeing something in him, after all he's turned around David Luiz and he's now playing like never before. But as some one mentioned, I rather see one of the youngster players given those minutes.

I think like the majority I will say with respect,  Branna has been a good servant to Chelsea and his vital goals and performances should not be forgotten. After yesterday's game though it must be the end of his time at Chelsea in the way that we play.

I watched him after he came on thinking he would be helpful being defensive minded, but watching him when Spurs were in possession or Chelsea were in possession he made the last 10 minutes nail biting! Didn't close down the crosses, got caught for pace meaning one of the back 3 had to come out to help which stretched us in the middle. So the change was negative. Thank you for your service, but can't see how he fits our formation and game plan now.

Quality player on his day, but i don't see a fit for him in this system. His pace lets him down and the fast wingers take advantage of it, done so good for the club over the years. Moving to Juventus would be a great move for him, slower league and a good big club. He will surely impress in the Serie A and open a spot for a new younger player in this case Aina.

According to Nizaar Kinsella, who is goal.com's Chelsea corespondent, Ivanovic is due to leave the club this month with an offer from Zenit St Petersburg and three Premier League clubs he is currently considering.

Will be interesting to see if he and Begovic are included in the team on Saturday.

Why would we lose more strength in depth, in the middle of a title challenge? I can't believe a word the journo's say. With hardly anytime to replace them, I can't see it.

Yeha, that would be Ocar, Mikel, Ivanovic gone with no replacements. I know we are only in 2 competitions, so we don't need a big squad, but it seems a tad risky.
