55K would be crazy for that amount of money, we need to be looking at 75/80K minimum. So long as we are still a Premiership team then of course!

I'm reading 60,000. 

All depends really on what the club forecast the stadium could realistically bring in. Last thing we need is replicating City and their Emptiehad.

To get to that you can add a lot of 0s on the bill unfortunately, which makes it difficult to prove viable.

Wonder how much it would cost us to get the Earls court site. There is no good alternative for our fans to go to for 4 to 5 years to develop the Bridge. Wembley? Tickers?  West hams? Too far away? The cottage? Too small season ticket holders miss out.

We need earls court. Build a new stadium, stay at the Bridge till it is ready.

Needs to be bigger than the Spurs stadium no matter the cost.  Would be nice to have the biggest in the premier league though.

@axman2526 I see @Munkunku as the Freddie Mercury of comedy, in a Wembley-like performance. I'll be in the front row of course, with the other Shed End forum regulars!

Spurs and West Ham bring in big crowds every week, we will have no problem at all. If it ain't 60k minimum forget about it.

Regardless of size, we need to have a stadium that has excellent acoustics and atmosphere. We can have 100,000 but if its like a library then there is no point.

That game last week at St James' was electric for atmosphere. A full house of committed Geordie fans, paying a reasonable price to get in the door. Its not just about bums on seats, its also about pitching the price and availability at a level where the "regular" and "true" fans can get these, consistently. There needs to be a passionate atmosphere and a cauldron of noise. The gooners are trying to manufacture this by reinventing themselves and bringing in new songs to get the crowd singing along to, along with Arteta's fake, over acting enthusiasm and the teams continual over celebration of all they do. Its cheesy but it does seem to be having a positive effect in generating atmosphere and a bond between players and fans.

I know I’m never going to have a super positive outlook on much, but our stadium plans are just a footballing HS2 to me. I think there’s more chance of us winning the quadruple before we’re playing in a large capacity state of the art stadium, be that at Stamford Bridge or at any other location. We’ve been reading about a large modern stadium since 1970, and even throughout the Roman era we’ve heard nothing but talk and no action beyond occasional artist impressions of fantastical egg slicers.

Let's also assume that the overall planning, demolition and building processes takes the same amount of time as previously planned. The timeline looks something like this:

July 2024 - Initial plans revealed

November 2024 - Planning application submitted

July 2025 - Revised planning application submitted

January 2026 - Council planning permission granted

March 2026 - Mayoral permission granted

December 2026 - Stoll properties vacated

April 2027 - Phase 1 Contractor chosen

Summer 2027 - Phase 1 work to start (Decking/Enabling Work/Stoll demolition)

Summer 2028 - Phase 2 works to start (Stadium Demolition)

August 2031 - Stadium completed?

Hope we go with a similar design to what Roman was planning, which was unique and instantly recognisable. 

Would have been a fantastic stadium, i imagine the American owner will favour a large toilet bowl design though.

Todd hired highly respected architect Janet Marie Smith, she has had a huge impact on baseball stadium architecture in America. I suggest you do some research on her.

I wonder if she'll be incorporating the Stoll mansions into the stadium at all with reference the warehouse at Camden Yards above.. Certainly more excited now.

Janet Marie Smith, while working for Stan Kasten, led the project to convert Turner Field to an Olympic Stadium. The stadium was the centerpiece for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. Later, Smith oversaw the transformation of Olympic Stadium to the Braves' Turner Field. Much of the north end of the Olympic stadium was removed to convert it into a 49,000-seat baseball park. A unique characteristic of Smith's work on Braves' Turner Field is the remnants of previously demolished Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium's foundation which is located just outside the center field and left field walls. Retaining the former Atlanta-Fulton foundation allowed the spot where home plate had been to be marked, thereby commemorating the place at which Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth's home run record in 1974.

This is interesting. Built the new stadium but kept the foundations of the old stadium and the layout of the old field in the car park.

If the Bridge gets reorientated slightly with the purchase of the new land, i wonder if she could keep some kind of memoir to the existing stadium. We obviously already have the original Shed wall kept.
