What is happening with Marin?

Featured Replies

id file him under: 'too early to judge'. needs a good rest over summer, some good fitness work pre-season then we can have a proper look at him next year, or ship him out.

Marin's as good as gone if you ask me. I know he's not played much this year but when he has he hasn't impressed me at all, I just don't think he's good enough for us. Schurrle would be an instant upgrade in terms of our wide options. I think the club just needs to accept that this particular punt hasn't come off and that it would be better to cut our losses now.

he will be used as a make weight if we sign Schurlle or Lewandowski

he should have been given more of a chance but i remember watching him at League 1 brentford and he was shocking

i agree with this

ive watched him play a lot before he came to chelsea and knew that hed be a squad player at best

i think he got enough chances and he was just dreadful everytime. not to mention he was very lucky not to get a 10 minute red against qpr

We signed him early, when no one would have expected to win the CL. By the time we get Hazard and Oscar, there's very little chance he would get regular starts. He's a squad player, it's a pity he didnt even get to do that this season. I expect him to leave with better players coming next season.

Feel really sorry for the chap, He's not had a decent run in the side and tubby doesn't seem to rate him.

Marin's lack of game time is the one thing I won't blame on Benetiz.

Benetiz has been willing to play the likes of Ake and Ferreria when required and so I don't see why he wouldn't pick Marin if needed.

I honestly think the lad just isn't cutting it at the club which is a shame because he showed promise in the pre-season friendly.

Not every signing works out and fortunately we didn't invest a huge sum of money on him and I would imagine we will either sell him back to a team in Germany for around £5m or he will be sent out on loan next year.

I think he will leave in the summer. Just not a place for him in the team. I think it is a shame because he has never really had a fair crack of the whip. I thought a loan move to a Fulham or someone like that would have been best but with the players we are linked to in the summer i cant see him staying.

Feel bad about the way his tenure at the club hasn't worked out better for him or the team. It's a shame because he seems like a genuinely nice chap

So Marko has gone on loan to Sevilla for next year. Good move for him and for the club. I'm very skeptical as to whether he has any future with us, but hopefully he can get his career back on track in Sevilla. That way, we can either command a decent transfer fee for him, or he can come back next Pre-Season and push those currently ahead of him in the AM pecking order.

Agree with this. I doubt he has a future here but who knows. Good luck Marko.

Good for him, I hope it works out for him there. At least I hope he can get some form back and get himself back in the running for Germany.

Given how stocked the team is for wingers, its a good move all around.

he isnt getting anywhere near the german team. ozil, muller, gotze, reus, schurrle, draxler are all miles ahead of him

but still good move for him, he will play consistently at sevilla. i dont see him playing for chelsea ever again though

Kroos as well.

I'm happy for him though, this move to Spain will suit him. The game is played at a slower tempo there and he'll get more time and space to showcase his ability.

It's a real shame for Marin. When he was at his best at Bremen, Germany were crying out for a player of his ilk. Then he got injured, had an indifferent season at Bremen and a non-existent one here. In the meantime, Ozil/Muller/Gotze/Reus became World Class whilst Schurrle and Draxler have emerged too.

I think this might well be the end of the road for Marin at Chelsea. I'd love to see him prove me wrong but the odds are stacked heavily against him.
