Standby for action - Jose poised to build his squad

Featured Replies

I don't believe any of the smooth statements from Jose thus far, this is the phoney war.

Last time he arrived, out went half a squad and in came his Porto boys, not expecting that much change but expect him to make his mark on the squad through July and as we had 12 loanees out as well as the main squad expect loads of activity

Very hard to pick who/when but based on Inter and RM, he likes physical centre backs who can tackle, ditto his holding players but one of them needs range of passing, a hardworking centre forward and some flair wide and in the no. 10 role. One full back needs to be able to defend, and the other attack

He starts out to win, not entertain - winning is everything to jose

Expect some of our favourites will go

Hold tight, goons be bumpy

I don't buy into that - situations have changed we might have been able to loan and sell many players before at a loss but now we cannot really afford it. I do expect certain players not to get much time to leave their mark, some inclusions might be surprising, some transfers baffling but I don't expect there to be much transfer activity - we will utilize a lot of the squad and possibly get 2-3 players in.

I do think Mourinho will concentrate on having a balanced and reliable squad. Last season when players like Mata, Hazard etc had to be rested or were injured, their replacements weren't exactly doing a great job.

on the subject of Jose, a certain overweight ex-manager has had a dig at him already... couldnt wait to stick the boot in! i wont name him cos he doesnt deserve to be acknowledged

He who shall not be named said he doesn't believe in "winning at any cost".

He also said: "I received a sporting education from Madrid and I was taught to show respect and dignity towards the opponents whether we won or lost."

Yeah, the one who shall not be named always showed nothing but respect towards Chelsea and their fans.

Agree, cue Schurrle as one input.

yes, expect Jose will also be looking closely at the progress of Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne (hotly tipped to return) Kenneth Omeruo (recently injured in Confed Cup also tipped to return), Romeu and Chalobah.

I didn't want to create a new topic for this so I'll ask here, do we have an assistant manager?

I hear Poyet is available.

JK

Isn't Holland still no.2 ?

I forgot about Steve Holland lol. I was hoping we could have gotten Makelele. Can't see him going to Madrid since Perez was the one who basically said he was worthless, and then he was sold to us, thankfully.

winning football can be very entertaining because the actual process of scoring goals can be beautiful. we have enough players for JM to chose whatever system he wants and enough players with that magic factor to keep us happy.

Aren't Watford having some trouble with their squad or something like that? Maybe that can be an opportunity for him to leave. I think Ballack would be a good choice too, but I don't know if he has his coaching qualifications or whatever it is they need to be an assistant/

Mourinho wanted to bring Karanka with him from Real, but he stayed behind due to his Madrid loyalties, so i guess he is on the look-out for someone else. be nice to see Rodgers come back to the Bridge, but im not sure if he's ready for the step up yet ;)

Aitor Karanka was Jose's assistant at Real and is currently weighing up his options. He still has a contract with Madrid and has been offered the same post at Chelsea. Apparently he has a management job offer from the Middle East too.

I suppose it's down to what Carlo Ancelotti wants to do with him. If Carlo has taken Paul Clement with him then it may force Karanka to move.

zidane is assistant manager with paul Clement who im really pleased for. Id think Makelele would stay and work with the new psg coach as he was there before carlo.

If José's not bringing Karanka maybe we should go for Maka. He could even get a few games

Maybe he could teach Mikel a thing or ten.
