Drogba to return?

Featured Replies

The entire premise of that article is that Drogba visited Cobham the other day, which I'm fairly sure he's done several times since leaving.

This.

Though it would be a hard call between Drogba and Rooney if ever the choice needed to be made.

A man responsible for putting an end to war and building childrens hospitals in a hugely deprived country while taking his team to European glory v granny-shagging, prostitute using shrek lookalike with a record for violent conduct.... hmmm... tough decision.

As much as I love the Drog, it would be a step backwards.

How so? We don't have any capable strikers to help Lukaku and lead us on at least 3 fronts this season. Falcao, Cavani, and Lewandowski have all gone so far.

I love the man as much as any of us but I wouldn't want him back and not just because it would ruin what is probably the greatest send-off in sports history. Lots of people on here have posted how they don't want a new signing to stall Lukaku's development but this signing would be precisely that. If he came back and wasn't the bulldozer we all loved then it would tarnish his legend. He did everything he could have done with us and I would rather remember him for Munich than anything lesser.

Fully agree, I would hate to see him return and struggle to match our memories of him.

I'd like to see him come back as a coach, because Lukaku could learn so much from him, but as much as I love him I wouldnt want to see him come back and play for us. His last kick of a ball in a chelsea shirt was to win us the biggest trophy in club football for the first time, and that should never change.

Drogba coaching our young forwards would be brilliant, hope he teaches them how to be a big game player like he was.

As a coach and part of the setup up I hope he does come back next year, if he decides to retire.

As far as a player goes he left at a perfect time on a perfect end to his legacy. Just as Zola did.

Drogba would not stall Lukaku's development, especially if he's signs something like a one year deal. He would help Lukaku's transition into a starter. A younger player like Lewandowski would have stalled him. Drogba looked pretty good in the Champions League so I don't think he lost anything in just a matter of months. Coming back to help the team would not tarnish his status, it's already there.

A side thought... Drogba and Rooney as a striking partnership. Now that could be interesting...!

We said the same thing about Drogba and Torres back in 2010
