Why are we going for this when Barca are replacing him with a player that probably won't cost much more, is 5 years younger and is more suited to the role we require?

Not much can be done if that's true other than taking advantage of it by signing Fabregas.

Would anything really be concluded before the WC though? It may be true but I don't think we'll hear anything until after the tournament and when the players get back off holiday.

Prob not Gem, as its so close to the world cup now. I wouldnt mind seeing some business wrapped up though.

Depends how quickly Barca would want to finalise the sale to allow them to work on their own transfer targets.

 

I think that's why we moved to quick with the Luiz deal, frees up funds and a squad place for us immediately. 

 

Also Fabregas might not want the uncertainty hanging over him going into the World Cup when it's apparently clear he will be leaving.

Oh I agree, I want everything done and dusted before it so I can enjoy it more.

Also Cesc could break his leg at the world cup and then that would rule out any kind of move. I would think Barca are keen to move him on as soon as possible.

If the only objection people have to him is that he used to play for Arsenal and that he can be a bit of a twat then I think our respect for Cole and our support of Torres shows he'll be fine.

Are you implying that against teams that play more attacking, our midfielders are splitting defences left and right? Our midfielders more often than not fail miserably even in 4v4, 3v3 situations

We need that type of a player when we are playing against packed defences, somebody who can find a gap and thread a ball through.

I still feel this rumour is hyping up because of Fabregas visit in London for that Dr.Dre beats advertisement.

Who's to say that wasn't a perfect opportunity to discuss a deal with Chelsea also!

We were relying on Luiz, Lampard, Ramires and Mikel to bring some creativity alongside Matic and those players for various reasons were not up to it sadly.

You stick Fabregas into the side be it beside Matic or further forward then we have a huge upgrade in our midfield.

Cesc has the most completed through balls in the premier league in the last 5 years and he left in 2011. Now that's impressive.

Those aren't the only reasons. One for me is I think he's overrated, don't think he's got the stones for a Mourinho midfield personally. Outside of this pissing off the Gooners I don't like the idea.

I agree with that but I always wondered why Oscar couldn't provide that creativity from a deeper role with Hazard, Willian & Schurrle in the attacking trio.
