June 3, 201412 yr Why are we going for this when Barca are replacing him with a player that probably won't cost much more, is 5 years younger and is more suited to the role we require? There's talk that Koke has an agreement with Barcelona, like Rakitic has with Atletico. Not much can be done if that's true other than taking advantage of it by signing Fabregas.
June 3, 201412 yr Guesswork is all it is. According to the Express today Chelsea close in on Cesc Fabregas after 'agreeing' personal terms Such a bold, confident headline must surely have some basis in fact, you might think? But you'd be wrong. No direct quotes, The actual text of the article tells you that the agreement is purely "According to Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo" and that "Fabregas' agent was thought to have been in discussions with a number of Premier League clubs." And that's all there is to it. Nothing more than speculation and hype, second hand bullsh*t dressed up as "news". It’s silly season Tommy. The headlines as you say are ridiculous given the lack of reliable information, seems you can print anything you like these days based on nothing more than Chinese whispers between club ‘sources’. Even a broken clocks is correct twice a day so that’s what these media outlets are hoping for.
June 3, 201412 yr This story definitly got legs.. Its all over the spanish newspapers. Including El Mundo Deportivo and Cadena Ser who usually is reliable.

June 3, 201412 yr Would anything really be concluded before the WC though? It may be true but I don't think we'll hear anything until after the tournament and when the players get back off holiday.
June 3, 201412 yr Prob not Gem, as its so close to the world cup now. I wouldnt mind seeing some business wrapped up though. If Fabregas has a great tournament his price may go up..
June 3, 201412 yr Would anything really be concluded before the WC though? It may be true but I don't think we'll hear anything until after the tournament and when the players get back off holiday. Depends how quickly Barca would want to finalise the sale to allow them to work on their own transfer targets. I think that's why we moved to quick with the Luiz deal, frees up funds and a squad place for us immediately. Also Fabregas might not want the uncertainty hanging over him going into the World Cup when it's apparently clear he will be leaving.

June 3, 201412 yr Also Cesc could break his leg at the world cup and then that would rule out any kind of move. I would think Barca are keen to move him on as soon as possible.
June 3, 201412 yr There are more perfectly weighted through balls in this 1 year compilation video than I think i've seen our entire midfield produce in the last few years Edited June 3, 201412 yr by Jonty
June 3, 201412 yr There are more perfectly weighted through balls in this 1 year compilation video than I think i've seen our entire midfield produce in the last few years Maybe so but people don't put every one behind the ball in that league... I was also impressed with that vid though
June 3, 201412 yr If the only objection people have to him is that he used to play for Arsenal and that he can be a bit of a twat then I think our respect for Cole and our support of Torres shows he'll be fine.
June 3, 201412 yr Maybe so but people don't put every one behind the ball in that league... I was also impressed with that vid though Are you implying that against teams that play more attacking, our midfielders are splitting defences left and right? Our midfielders more often than not fail miserably even in 4v4, 3v3 situations
June 3, 201412 yr Maybe so but people don't put every one behind the ball in that league... I was also impressed with that vid though We need that type of a player when we are playing against packed defences, somebody who can find a gap and thread a ball through.
June 3, 201412 yr I still feel this rumour is hyping up because of Fabregas visit in London for that Dr.Dre beats advertisement. Edited June 3, 201412 yr by CFCBlue12
June 3, 201412 yr I still feel this rumour is hyping up because of Fabregas visit in London for that Dr.Dre beats advertisement. Who's to say that wasn't a perfect opportunity to discuss a deal with Chelsea also!
June 3, 201412 yr Are you implying that against teams that play more attacking, our midfielders are splitting defences left and right? Our midfielders more often than not fail miserably even in 4v4, 3v3 situations This is also true. We were relying on Luiz, Lampard, Ramires and Mikel to bring some creativity alongside Matic and those players for various reasons were not up to it sadly. You stick Fabregas into the side be it beside Matic or further forward then we have a huge upgrade in our midfield.
June 3, 201412 yr Cesc has the most completed through balls in the premier league in the last 5 years and he left in 2011. Now that's impressive.
June 3, 201412 yr If the only objection people have to him is that he used to play for Arsenal and that he can be a bit of a twat then I think our respect for Cole and our support of Torres shows he'll be fine. Those aren't the only reasons. One for me is I think he's overrated, don't think he's got the stones for a Mourinho midfield personally. Outside of this pissing off the Gooners I don't like the idea.

You stick Fabregas into the side be it beside Matic or further forward then we have a huge upgrade in our midfield. I agree with that but I always wondered why Oscar couldn't provide that creativity from a deeper role with Hazard, Willian & Schurrle in the attacking trio.
