September 30, 201411 yr I hope Cesc will be as much as a pro as Frank is and wont let his affection of his previos team effect his performance. I am a little worried about how he will play this sunday. In a way i hope the gooners give him a hard time so he get a f**k you attitude and play out of his skin.
September 30, 201411 yr These are the arsenal fans that booed there own player eboue so badly he had to be subbed and left the field in tears. They will boo fabregas.
September 30, 201411 yr Unlike Lampard, Fabregas will NOT get a hero's welcome when they greet him on his first game involving Arsenal. They will boo him the whole game, and if I was him I would want nothing more than to shove it back in their faces when we spank them.
September 30, 201411 yr I like the idea that they lit up the barbecue solely for the purpose of burning the shirt, it smacks of effort. They could have at least included a few burgers in the shot... Also is that a washing line (with washing) right next to the barbecue? The smell of smoke doesn't really combine too well with washing powder...

They will boo him the whole game, and if I was him I would want nothing more than to shove it back in their faces when we spank them. As a couple of others have said, I like to beat Arsenal as much as any team. They are right up there with Sp*rs and the Dippers and ahead of Utd, City and others. But I kind of have to stick up for their supporters a little bit as the Fabregas situation is totally different to Lamps. As much as they'll hate to admit it, Arsenal are not the force they once were and have become a selling club. A lot of their best players have jumped ship whilst they are still in their prime to seek success elsewhere so they can hardly expect a hero's welcome when they return. We tend to only let our players go when we feel we have the best out of them and can improve them with better so are happy to cheer the likes of Lamps and Drogba etc. But IF we hadn't won a trophy for 8 seasons and some of our players left to join our rivals, I doubt very much they would get a good reception on their return. Just look at players in the past when we weren't successful - Durie, Townsend etc. Anyway, I hope Fabregas has an absolute stormer and sets up 3 for Costa and bags one himself for good measure!
September 30, 201411 yr Remodez I think you will be very surprised on Sunday then if you think Arsenal fans are not going to give their trademark pantomime booing treatment to Fabregas. The way they always jump on the bandwagon on abusing their ex players is pathetic- the 'rapist' abuse of RVP after the allegations of rape were made years before and they continued to sing his name as an Arsenal players not giving a f**k about the rape allegation then suddenly started caring and using it as a stick to beat him with when he left. Similarly with Cole and the whole 'phone up bum' rumour, an allegation that was again made whilst he was an Arsenal player but then as soon as he went on to bigger and better things Arsenal fans decided to use it as their main source of abuse. I actually loved it when Van Persie scored against them last season and went mental. Their fans deserved that.

We don't know how Frank would have played if he were booed by our fans. Of course it didn't affect his performance because he could actually concentrate on playing. With Fab it will be different because Arsenal fans are "classy" like that. I'm sure he'll be booed the entire game. I really hope he will be able to focus and it won't affect him. Costa was visibly affected when he was booed by Brazilians in the WC. Edited September 30, 201411 yr by Ward
September 30, 201411 yr Tbh I bet its hard to play when you're been boo'd, must be really off putting
September 30, 201411 yr Or JT at pretty much every away game. It's different. Being booed by random fans is one thing, being booed by fans of the team you captained and played for since you were a teenager is completely another. Only someone who doesn't give a d*mn about fans will be completely unaffected, IMO.
September 30, 201411 yr You don't think being the national pantomime villain being routinely booed mostly based on hearsay and rumour takes it toll?
September 30, 201411 yr Nibs, I agree with almost all of that, but using Durie and townsend as examples isn't really like for like. The reasons those 2 were booed was much more than just because they moved elsewhere. The w**kers.
September 30, 201411 yr You don't think being the national pantomime villain being routinely booed mostly based on hearsay and rumour takes it toll? It probably does, but my point is, it's not the same, not even close. It's not as personal. People that boo JT aren't fans who sang his name for many years.
September 30, 201411 yr It probably does, but my point is, it's not the same, not even close. It's not as personal. People that boo JT aren't fans who sang his name for many years. But he is being booed as an attack on his personal character. Booed for an alleged affair that he and the women involved have denied. Booed for racism despite being proven innocent in the court of the land. Are you honestly saying that a character assassination like that wouldn't have the same, if not worse, effect as a set of fans booing you as a player because you're loyalties weren't as perceived to your previous employer?

Those are not the only things JT is disliked for, but let's not go there. Any booing is bullying. It's personal one way or another, and any booing, regardless of the reason, distracts a player. But my point is, you can't compare some occasional booing of random fans and the booing of the fans of your former team that you played for and captained for years. I'm sure JT would be much more bothered if our fans booed him after he left the club than by the booing of some random fans he couldn't care less about. Edited September 30, 201411 yr by Ward

September 30, 201411 yr Although I am one of the ones that was very angry with Lampards move I am so grateful that our fans gave him that reception, absolutely brilliant from them that. Go on a Arsenal forum and they are just horrible to there players, the amount of sh*t they gave Walcott over the years I'm surprised he even likes the club. They have even made a thread about Flamini saying when will Milan save us again and take him. The fans have no respect to there players, Fabregas left with reasons, they all put it as if Wenger showed him so much faith by making him captain and buying players for him. The real truth is that they didn't want to lose him as he was a world class youngster and they wanted to build a team around him. He will get no love at all from the Arsenal fans but who cares, it never stopped Ashley Cole from performing, if anything he bloody loved it. Cesc doesn't deserve it but he will get it because there fans are twats and I'm pretty sure he isn't going to expect a good reception anyway.
October 4, 201411 yr Interesting article the Daily Mail today on Jose persuading and securing the Fabregas deal. I couldnt paste the link in for some reason but well worth a read.
October 4, 201411 yr http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2779889/How-Jose-Mourinho-outwitted-rivals-race-seduce-former-Barcelona-star-Cesc-Fabregas.html
October 4, 201411 yr Nice one. Interesting they scout a personal lives to the point of divorces etc. Good work by the club/Jose to secure the deal.
October 4, 201411 yr Another great article. "I think he loves Chelsea already,'' Mourinho said. "He's so happy: the way he plays, the way he's a member of the squad, the way he lives in this little blue village. "It is like he's [been] here for a long time. If you ask him now if he regrets the move, I'm sure he'd say no. If you ask him if he'd choose a different option, he'd say no. And if you ask him where he thinks he'll be in five years' time, he will say Chelsea. "He is Chelsea. He is completely committed to Chelsea. And he likes Chelsea very, very much. One thing is that and another thing is to forget the past. I'm happy he doesn't forget the past.'' "I wouldn't be happy if he came here saying he didn't care about Arsenal," Mourinho said. Many times, when [players] say that, it's not true. If it's true, it's also not good. He'll never lose his respect and his connection with a club where he arrived as a kid and left as a top player. "The fact he's giving everything to Chelsea with such professionalism and enthusiasm is exactly what we want of him.'' Agree with Jose.
