May 11, 201511 yr 18 assists for the season now following his corner that led to JT's goal yesterday. Phenomenal first season. Can't wait till next season when Costa is back fully fit. I'd put my house on Cesc being over 20 assists had he not been injured.
May 11, 201511 yr Why does he always take his mask off after half time? If he can do that you wonder why he wears it in the first place, the nose can't be that damaged if he can take it off for 45mins football.

May 11, 201511 yr Doctors have ordered him to wear it so I think he tries to cope with it but then ditches it. Can imagine it would get sweaty/itchy after a while.
May 13, 201511 yr Thankfully I was an early supporter of this transfer, because I got the Costa one horribly wrong
May 13, 201511 yr Little dedication, winds up Gooners. I wish I knew some Arsenal fans so that I could share these with them!

May 14, 201511 yr Thankfully I was an early supporter of this transfer, because I got the Costa one horribly wrong Ditto
May 18, 201511 yr Would Cesc miss the celebration next week because of the card? He won't play but I don't see why he'd miss the celebration
May 18, 201511 yr Even Mourinho thinks the decision is ridiculous, and he's right. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3086956/Jose-Mourinho-slams-three-game-ban-Cesc-Fabregas-Chelsea-midfielder-s-bizarre-red-card-against-West-Brom.html I loved this line 'Three game ban for this? Jesus Christ!' Edited May 18, 201511 yr by Scott Harris

May 19, 201511 yr Where in the rules does it say that kicking the ball at a player is a red card offense ? Comes under violent conduct.
May 19, 201511 yr Comes under violent conduct. That is violent conduct ? Ok. I'll remember that the next time a player kicks a ball at another player then, which happens more often than people realise. The last time i seen someone sent off for kicking a ball at someone was the Rivaldo incident. Edited May 19, 201511 yr by Scott Harris
May 19, 201511 yr That is violent conduct ? Ok. By the rules of the game, yes. I've seen you disagree and you seem to have an issue with the rules of football, not the actual decision of the ref. But it was the correct decision unfortunately.
May 19, 201511 yr By the rules of the game, yes. I've seen you disagree and you seem to have an issue with the rules of football, not the actual decision of the ref. But it was the correct decision unfortunately. Violent Conduct, as taken from the official FIFA Laws of the game: A player is guilty of violent conduct if he uses excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball. He quite clearly did not use brutality, so lets examine the FIFA definition of excessive force, again taken from the FIFA rules of the game “Using excessive force” means that the player has far exceeded the necessary use of force and is in danger of injuring his opponent. • A player who uses excessive force must be sent off Was his chip in danger of injuring an opponent? Quite clearly not. So in fact by the rules of the game, this did not constitute violent conduct, as no excessive force or brutality was used, and there were no grounds for a sending off. If I were a member of Chelsea's legal team i'd look into appealing this one. Edited May 19, 201511 yr by Jonty

Thing is he drove the ball with force at the West Brom players which constitutes violent conduct. It's very good of you to try and defend what he did, but what exactly is his reasoning for kicking the ball with that force in that direction? Graham Poll agrees, as do most pundits that I've read. Jonty and Scott Harris on the Shed End forum disagree. Does that sum it up?

Nothing to do with reasoning or what a retired ref says, i've quoted the laws of the game which are of far higher persuasion than yours, mine or anyone elses opinion. If you disagree and believe and could show that his actions could be classified as brutal, or were capable of injuring someone, then yes you may have a relevant point.

Jonty and Scott Harris on the Shed End forum disagree. Does that sum it up? But that so called force was in no way endangering the opposition player. He would have barely felt it. It's a bouncy ball for christ sake. And saying Graham Poll and pundits agree isn't a good way to back up an argument. Graham Poll was guilty of making terrible errors in the game when he was a ref and most pundits talk crap. Edited May 19, 201511 yr by Scott Harris
