World Cup 2014

The draw is going to take about 3 hours knowing FIFA, so tedious at times.

I have an odd feeling that England will get an underwhelming looking group that will inevitably raise the expectations of the nation heaping further pressure on the squad before the tournament has even started.

Group of Death for England.

LOL

We have to play in the Amazon. An environment with 99% humidity. LEL

Group A: Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, Cameroon
Group B: Spain, Netherlands, Chile, Australia
Group C: Colombia, Greece, Cote d'Ivoire, Japan
Group D: Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy
Group E: Switzerland, Ecuador, France, Honduras
Group F: Argentina, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iran, Nigeria
Group G: Germany, Portugal, Ghana, USA
Group H: Belgium, Algeria, Russia, Korea Republic

Germany's group is brutal. I expect us to go through, but that is going to be a tough group.

Don't see England getting out of that group to be honest.

I read today that England fear nobody. That may be mutual, if I look at England's group.

My predictions for the knockout stages:

A: Brazil, Mexico

B: Spain, Netherlands

C: Japan, Greece/Colombia if Falcao is in hot form

D: Italy, Uruguay/England, with Cavani and Suarez thinking more Uruguay.

E: France/Switzerland

F: Argentina, Nigeria

G: Germany, Portugal

H: Belgium, Russia

Uruguay will be very tough, with the finals being in South America.

Italy are traditionally very good at tournaments and generally get the better of us.

They also qualified with ease and are in good shape.

Tough, very very tough.

If we want to progress we'll have to play teams similar in quality to Italy and Uruguay at some point so playing them sooner or later is the same. The important thing imo is that we show some fight and are much better than the disaster of South Adrica.

The impact of the humidity will be the same more or less for any team Europe.

Not that I'm a trained lip-reader or anything but when England were drawn in that group I could clearly see Woy say;...... "I'll get me coat"

I think he was praying for a group containing Iran, Honduras and Bosnia-Herzogovina. Even then I wouldn't bet a penny on us getting through.

And as for France? It's a fix I tells ya.

To add to England's peril a bit, I see you have your first match in Manaus.

That's one long trip to Sao Paulo for match #2. I think it's about 3000km each way (give or take a few hundred). The one bit of good news is that it's the first match. Might be able to get there a day or two earlier.

Group G = Group of Death but the Yanks aren't caring, especially after Klinsmann stated, "We are not UnderDogs"....Bring it on like Donkey Kong....USA all the freaking way!!!!

Oh well, at least the players get to enjoy a pleasant trip to the "Paris of the Amazonias". Local attractions include wild crocodiles, malarial mosquitoes and some of the most impoverished, drug-ridden favelas in Brazil.
